Morning by Morning, December 31, 2025 — Letting Go of 2025 and Laying Hold of 2026 Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my day. ... “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14). Here at the end of the year of 2025, I let go of the past and press on to what lies ahead for the year 2026. Thank You for every challenge You used to shape me, every person You used to inspire me, every situation You used to teach me and help make me more like You on my spiritual journey with every one of my brothers and sisters in Christ to be conformed to the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:28-29).
By the power of Your grace, empower me to keep “reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” Empowering me to keep pressing on “toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” This is the goal You set before me: To draw closer to You. To become more like You. To do what You call me to do as I become who You’ve created me to be. For this, “I press on.” For this, “I lay hold.” Thanking You for my past, but now letting go of my past, to embrace my future in You on my journey of faith with You—morning by morning, moment by moment, this day and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
