Morning by Morning, January 1, 2026 — Seek First on the First
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Awaken my soul, as I look to You and listen for the leading of Your Spirit. ...
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).
Here in these first moments of this first morning of this new year, I sense You setting before me a choice. A choice of how to begin this year. A choice of how to lay the foundation for this year. A choice of how to set in motion my heart, my attitude, my perspective for this year.
What comes to mind are these simple Words: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Yes, Lord. Let that be the standard for every choice, every decision I’ll make this year. Taking time to seek You. Setting the priority to seek You first.
Not just in general, but in every specific. Not just along the way, but before the beginning my day. Not just at the beginning of my day, but then all along the way.
You and Your kingdom, Your will, Your purposes, Your desires for the moments of my days. Let Your Spirit keep Your priority before me. Let me see what a year of my life would be like to truly seek You first instead of anything else first.
May I truly be a son of God, led by the Spirit of God. And may I look back on this year in the first moments of the first morning of the next new year to see what You have done in me and through me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
