Morning by Morning, April 23, 2026 — No Longer Slaves, but Sons and Daughters of God
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear what You’re saying in my heart and follow the leading of Your Spirit—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’ Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Galatians 4:1-7).
I’m no longer a slave, but a son. A son of God, an heir of God, through the Spirit of the Son of God.
Abba, Father! Help me better understand my identity in You. Help me better live out my life, walk out my faith, as the son of God You’ve created me and called me to be in You.
It’s Your heart that every one of us “might receive the adoptions as sons”—sons and daughters, children of God, born again by the Spirit of God bringing spiritual life to our mortal bodies. And that’s just the beginning of our growing up to maturity, growing up into our spiritual maturity, as You’re “bringing many sons to glory” (Hebrews 2:10).
It’s Your glory, Your manifest Presence abiding in us, living in us, ever changing us, conforming us, transforming us “into (Your) image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Help me understand more deeply every day on my spiritual journey with You every day “what are the riches of the glory of this mystery ... which is Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).
Our hope of glory is Your promise and purpose of forming Your nature in us by Your grace and the manifest Presence of Your glory by the Spirit of Your Son at work within us as Your sons and daughters of God. No longer slaves, but sons and daughters of God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
