Morning by Morning, April 29, 2026 — Planting or Watering, to be “Found Faithful” Working and Laboring for the Glory of God by the Grace of God
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your voice and follow Your leading (John 10:27). ...
“Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor” (1 Corinthians 3:5-8).
Sometimes we plant. Sometimes we water. But You are always the One who gives the increase.
We’re coming to the time when all that has been planted and all that has been watered is increasing to the time of harvest. And so we’re coming to the time when “each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor” (v. 8).
This spiritual Truth is not speaking of our salvation. For we are not saved by our works, but by our personal relationship of trust and surrender to You. “For by grace (we) have been saved through faith, and that not of (ourselves); it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8).
And at the same time, our works, our labors, our living out our faith in the grace we have received matter. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
So, in preparation for the great harvest to come, the great harvest at hand, I pray for the grace to “be found faithful” in You, to “be found faithful” to You (1 Corinthians 4:2). Whether planting or watering, whether sowing or reaping, may You increase Your Spirit in me and give the increase to all You desire to do through me. As “servants of Christ ... each one’s praise will come from God” (1 Corinthians 4:1-5). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
