Morning by Morning, March 2 - "Power to Become Children of God"
 
Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are welcome in my heart and every moment of my day.  ...
 
"He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him; yet the world did not know Him. He came to what was His own, and His own people did not accept Him. But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become the children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:10-13).
 
By the will of God, I'm a child of God. You've empowered me to know that's who I am, just as You've awakened me know just who You are. 
 
Lord Jesus, You are the Son of God, One with my Father and One with the Holy Spirit. And by the power of the grace of God that's saved my soul and stirred in my spirit, I've believed in Your name and received You in my heart to embrace the power to become a child of God.
 
As a child of God, I'm led by the Spirit of God. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God (Romans 8:14 NKJV). The Spirit of God dwells in me (Romans 8:9). And it's that very Spirit of the Son, "the Spirit of Christ," who lives in me and identifies me, who encourages me and empowers me to be all I'm created and called to be (Romans 8:9).
 
The Spirit of God is always reminding me who I am -- I'm a child of God, a son of my Father. "When we cry, 'Abba! Father!' it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heir with Christ -- if, in fact, we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him" (Romans 8:15-17). 
 
With Jesus in my heart, with the Holy Spirit leading my life, I cry out to You, my Father -- Abba! Father! How are You leading me today, as I embrace my identity and live out my destiny as a son of God and disciple of Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit of God? Give me the power to live like the son of God I am today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

I pray you will filled afresh with the Holy Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ living in you and empowering you to know you're the child of God you're created to be by our Father God today. Morning by Morning, March 1 - Seek His Face, Seek Him First
 
Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are One with the Father and One with the Holy Spirit; and by the grace of God, You are One within me. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as You walk with me and talk with me throughout the moments of my day.  ...
 
" 'Come,' my heart says, 'seek His face!' Your face, Lord, do I seek" (Psalm 27:8).
 
Give me the wisdom and the desire to seek Your face and to seek You first. When I need provision for my needs, when I need protection from my fears, when I need purpose for my path, give me the wisdom and the desire to seek Your face and seek You first.
 
By the power of the grace of God, I will "seek first the kingdom of God and (Your) righteousness, and all these things shall be added to (me)" (Matthew 6:33 NKJV). I will seek Your face and seek You first. And as I do, I trust and rest in the promise of Your Word, "You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord" (Jeremiah 29:13-14 NKJV). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, February 29 - Lifted Up and Broken Free!

 Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Lord and Savior, make me more like You today.  ... 

"O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, those He redeemed from trouble.... Some sat in darkness and in gloom, prisoners in misery and in irons, for they had rebelled against the words of the God and spurned the counsel of the Most High. Their hearts were bowed down with hard labor; they fell down, with no one to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress; He brought them out of darkness and gloom, and broke their bonds asunder! Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wonderful works to humankind. For He shatters the doors of bronze, and cuts in two the bars of iron!" (Psalm 107:1-16) 

Though You've saved us and redeemed us, we can still suffer and struggle through the troubles and trials, the bruises and battles of life in this broken, fallen world. We're not home yet. So we all need Your steadfast love that never fails and Your tender mercies that endure forever. We all need Jesus every day. 

Sometimes we get stuck. Sometimes we feel imprisoned by the things we've done or taken captive by the things done to us. Sometimes we feel weary and exhausted, hopeless and afraid, condemned and ashamed, rejected and alone. We give in to addictions and give up to failure. We forget our identity and squander our destiny. We try to take control in our own power, in our own will, and our on way, pushing back against Your Word and spurning Your grace. Sometimes we don't even realize we are; we're just trying to survive however we can behind our doors of bronze and self-imprisoned behind our bars of iron. But though our feelings are true, because are our feelings, good or bad, You're greater than our feelings; You're mightier than our failures. You said, "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33 NKJV). Your Word says we can overcome in the power of Your grace because "the One who is in (us) is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Praise God! 

So Your Spirit stirs inside us and rises up within us. We cry out to You, O Lord, in our trouble and call upon Your name in our distress. You hear from heaven and break into our hearts. You send forth Your word to heal our hurts and break our chains; You stretch out You hand to take hold of our hope and "deliver (us) from destruction" (Psalm 107:19-20). Sometimes we wake up to the dawn of new day and the battle is done, Sometimes the battle rages on. But either way, something changes in us every time we call on Your name and put our trust in You. We remember Your promise You never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). And we know Your Word is true and will never fail that though we go through the rising tides, we'll not be overwhelmed and through the burning fires, we'll not be consumed, for You are with us (Isaiah 43:1-5). 

So let us thank the Lord and tell of You're the mighty power of Your love and mercy and grace! (Psalm 107:21) Let us call on Your name and cry out to You! It's when we humble ourselves in Your sight and call on Your name in faith that You lift us up so we can feel Your embrace once again (James 4:10). We humble ourselves under Your mighty hand, that You may lift us up; and we cast all our anxiety on You, because You care for us" (1 Peter 5:6-7). And if God be for us, who can stand against us! (Romans 8:31) In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.

Morning by Morning, February 26 - "He Gives the Spirit Without Measure"

 Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my heart with the fullness of Your Spirit.  ... 

"He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for He gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in His hands" (John 3:34-35). 

Father God, increase my capacity to receive more of Your Spirit. Enlarge my heart and stretch out my spirit to receive more of Your love. Love is the nature of Your Spirit (1 John 4:16). And Jesus is the living expression of Your nature (John 10:30). Jesus is my example; Jesus is my standard (Matthew 10:25). "As He is, so are we in this world" (1 John 4:17). And Jesus had Your Spirit "without measure." 

So fill me, Holy Spirit, without measure. Cleanse me and free from all that is within me that is not yet like You, that You can fill me with the fullness of all that is of You (Ephesians 5:18). In the power of Your grace and Your love, may I "be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19). May I be filled with Your Spirit "without measure" (John 3:35). May I be filled up and freed up -- free to be like Jesus in my world today (Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, February 25 - Striving for Peace, Growing in Grace?

 Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek Your face and listen for Your voice, watching and waiting in the silence of surrender before You now to begin my day with You, Lord God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  ... 

"Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by Him at peace, without spot or blemish; and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation.... But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity" (2 Peter 3:14-18). 

In a way, the ideas of striving for peace and growing in grace, like working out our own salvation, seem to imply a lot of effort on our part (Philippians 2:12). But not so. "It is God who is at work in (us), enabling (us) both to will and work for His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13).  

Our part is to actively, faithfully put our trust in You, as we embrace the leading and the power Your Spirit working in us to desire what is right and to do what is right. That's how we strive for peace and grow in grace. That's how we live out the salvation You've already given to us and are establishing as a way of life within us. 

So come, Holy Spirit. Establish more of the peace and grace of God in me today. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart. Empower me to desire what is right and to do what is right, as I live out the fullness of my salvation, more each day. "For by grace (I) have been saved through faith, and this not (my) own doing; it is the gift of God -- not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For (I am) what (You) made (me), created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be (my) way of life" (Ephesians 2:8-10). "To (God) be the glory both now and to the day of eternity" (2 Peter 3:18).  In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, February 24 - Abiding and Abounding!
 
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin this day and every day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit.  ...
 
"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving" (Colossians 2:7).
 
Help me live each day abiding and abounding -- abiding in You and abounding in thanksgiving. You are the vine and I am one of Your branches; You're abiding in me and I'm abiding in You (John 15:5). 
 
Without the flow of Your life in me every day, I would shrivel and die in my spiritual life. So let me never take that for granted; let me never take You for granted. Let me abide and abound in thanksgiving and joy for Your gift of grace and the fullness of life I have in You each day. "For (I) have died, and (my) life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is (my) life is revealed, then (I) also will be revealed with Him in glory" (Colossians 3:3-4).
 
Remind me of my life without the fullness of Your life in me. Open my eyes to see those in the world around me whose lives feel meaningless and empty inside without Your Spirit in their hearts. They need You, just as I need You. But by the love and the grace of God, I have You and You have me. The life of "Christ in (me), the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27).
 
So I will not merely acknowledge You in thanksgiving with intellectual assent of the truth of my faith, I will abound in thanksgiving! I will not merely acknowledge Your role as my Creator and ask for Your blessing as my Provider when I sit down for a meal or lay my head down to sleep, I will abound in thanksgiving!
 
You've saved me life! You are my life! You bring joy and peace, a deep sense of security in my identity and excited anticipation of my destiny every day. So I will abound in thanksgiving! With a thankful heart and a joyful spirit -- all by the grace of God -- I will be abiding and abounding in You all day long, my whole life long. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, February 23 - Alive to Thrive!
 Good morning, Lord Jesus. Arise and shine, in my spirit and through my life today, I pray.  ... "The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad, the desert shall rejoice and blossom; like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice with joy and singing.... For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert" (Isaiah 35:1-6). We're created to thrive. So there are times when we need to be refreshed and revived. As I pray, I hear Your Spirit writing a new song in my heart ... 
Refreshed and revived
I'm coming alive
Awakened from the slumber of the night
 
Filled up inside
Alive to thrive
Spreading my wings to take off in flight
 
Revive me!
Come alive in me!
Arise and shine through me!
 
This winter will pass
This desert won't last
For my God is alive and living in me!

 Yes, Lord. You're alive and living in me. So "(I'm) not in the flesh; (I'm) in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in (me)" (Romans 8:9). In the power of Your grace, You free my spirit and strengthen my body. You "strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. (You) say to those who are of a fearful heart, 'Be strong, do not fear! Here is you God!'" (Isaiah 35:3-4). You fill me afresh with "everlasting joy" as "sorrow and sighing flee away" (Isaiah 35:10). Thank You for Your "streams in the desert" and Your "water (that) break forth in the wilderness" (Isaiah 35:6). Thank You for Your word of command to my spirit, "Sleeper, awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will sine on you!" (Ephesians 5:14) I'm alive to thrive in You. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, February 19 - "First Fruits of All"
 
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be exalted as Lord in my heart and all the moments of my day.  ...
 
"Honor the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine" (Proverbs 3:9-10).
 
As I rise to begin my day, my first thoughts belong to You, my first desires belong to You, my first words belong to You. I offer to You the first fruits of all I have and all I am. It's sort of like a down-payment of my declaration that all I have and all I am belong to You. It's another way of saying I "seek first the kingdom of God and (Your) righteousness" (Matthew 6:33 NKJV). It's another way of saying, "It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).
 
Thank You for reminding me to start this day well so that it may go well throughout the moments of my day. Offering my first fruits to You helps prepare the way for You to display Your fruit through my life this day (Galatians 5:22-23). 
 
Thank You for filling my barns and my vats, for filling my spirit and my soul, with the extravagant abundance of Your grace. Thank You, most of all, for filling me with "God's love has been poured into (my) heart through the Holy Spirit that has been given to (me)" (Romans 5:5). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
