“In the Shelter of Your Presence” - October 17, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, October 17 - “In the Shelter of Your Presence”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my life, now and in every moment of my day. ...   “How great is the goodness     You have stored up for those who fear You. You lavish it on those who come to You for protection,     blessing them before the watching world. You hide them in the shelter of Your Presence,     safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in Your Presence,     far from accusing tongues. Praise the Lord,     for He has shown me the wonders of His unfailing love.     He kept me safe when my city was under attack” (Psalm 31:19-21 NLT).   There’s no safer place than “in the shelter of Your Presence.”   And Your Presence if available to all who call upon You, who fear and honor You, who put their hope and trust in You. “For ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” (Romans 10:13).   No matter who conspires against us, no matter whose accusing tongue condemns us, no matter who seeks to steal and kill and destroy us, You show us “the wonders of (Your) unfailing love” to keep us safe “before the watching world.”   In this broken and fallen world, we will go through tragedies and tribulations, maybe at times even unimaginable, horrific assaults and attacks. But You are with us, if our hearts are with You; You “come close to us”, as we “come close to (You)” (James 4:8).   Your Word calls us to “continue in the faith” knowing that “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22 NKJV). And the Promise of Your Words assure us, just as You spoke to Your first disciples, You continue to speak to us: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). “And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith” (1 John 5:4).   Fill our hearts with faith to trust in You, to turn to You, to find our security in “the shelter of Your Presence.” For that’s the only place in this broken and fallen world, full of tribulation and terror, enduring increasing darkness and evil, that we can find the peace and security our hearts long for.   Even as we obey Your calling and command to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6) and pray for the peace of our city, our family, our people and the people of every land and nation, we are truly praying for the peace of Your Presence that we can only have when we find our Shelter in Your Presence--no matter where we are or what’s going on around us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Looking to the Son, our Ring of Fire and Bright Morning Star - October 16, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, October 16 - Looking to the Son, our Ring of Fire and Bright Morning Star   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek You first, You and Your kingdom, as I begin my day surrendered and submitted to Your Lordship in my life. ...   “We see Jesus” (Hebrews 2:9).   “For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst’” (Zechariah 2:5).   I was so honored to get to be one of the speakers leading prayer during the Ring of Fire eclipse of the sun on Saturday from the one of the most prominent viewing places in all the world in Kerrville, Texas. We worshipped and prayed all day atop the hill overlooking the city next to the giant 77 foot tall Empty Cross Sculpture at The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Gardens.   Your Holy Spirit gave me the word that all the world would be “looking to the sun” during the moments of the eclipse. What a prophetic picture that we are all to be “looking to the Son!”--to the Son of God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in these days (Revelation 19:16). For You are our Rock and Refuge, our “Bright and Morning Star!” (Revelation 22:16)   And as we look to You, You are our “Wall of Fire” -- our “Ring of Fire” that surrounds us and burns within us! (Zechariah 2:5)   So let us turn our eyes upon You, let us “see Jesus” (Hebrews 2:9), as we “seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1) That’s where we belong. That’s where we’re secure. That’s where our eyes are lifted up to see beyond the darkness of this world in the glorious Light of the One who has called us and rescued us “out of darkness and into (Your) Marvelous Light!” (1 Peter 2:9) In Jesus’ name I pray. Day of Rage and The Day of the Lord - October 13, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, October 13 - Day of Rage and The Day of the Lord   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Line up my heart with Yours, my thoughts with Yours, as I wait for the leading of Your Spirit, here in these first moments of my morning. ...   As terrorists call for a Day of Rage, Your Word speaks of The Day of the Lord in Psalm 2:   Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”   4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”   7 “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”   10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. (Psalm 2:1-12).   We put our trust in You, Lord. Even use all these horrific days to draw every heart to You--to “Kiss the Son” in the surrender of our hearts and lives to You--Son of God, King of Kings, Lord and Messiah of all. You are our only Source of True Peace--our “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Our “Very Present Help in Time of Trouble” - October 12, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, October 12 - Our “Very Present Help in Time of Trouble”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are my Rock and Refuge, my Anchor of Hope, my Steadfast Stronghold who never fails, O Lord my God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ...   As I wait for Your leading, I’m drawn to pray the Psalms of Your Word that speak of security in the midst of shaking, confidence and peace in the mist of turmoil and fear. I’m remembering the Scriptures that remind us to keep looking to You, finding our strength in You, unwavering in our trust in You now matter what’s going on around us.   Psalms of Your Word like Psalm 46, that I pray out now--speaking it out loud into the spiritual atmosphere around me, praying it out loud into the spiritual atmospheres around the world where it needs to be heard, and proclaiming it out loud into the innermost depths of my being:   God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah   4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. 6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. 7 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah   8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah     Now, let Your Word go forth--into the nations of the world, into my world around me, into the inner world inside of me. And I know Your Word will not return void or empty, but will accomplish every purpose for which You send it (Isaiah 55:11). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
