Morning by Morning, September 8, 2026 — “Clean Slate. Fresh Start.”

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here in these first moments of my morning, I speak out Your name and listen up for Your leading (John 10:27). …

As I write out today’s date of September 8, I’m reminded that many say the number 8 speaks of new beginnings. And this comes to my heart today: “Clean slate. Fresh start.” …

The prayer of David comes to mind now:

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10 ESV).

By Your mercy and love, by the power of Your blood, You cleanse our hearts, You renew our spirits. You give us a clean slate and a fresh start. “Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Let us receive Your grace for ourselves. Let us have grace for one another. To receive and to grant a clean slate and fresh start. Not holding the past against ourselves and not holding the past against one another. Just as You’ve done for us.

“But this I call to mind,

and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

His mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:21-23).

Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning, new this morning, with a clean slate and fresh start, here in my heart and in the heart of all who turn to You in surrender and trust, in repentance and faith. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
