Morning by Morning, September 9, 2025 – The Glory of the Lord Fills the Temple of Our Hearts Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the heart of my life and all that I am, all that I say, all that I do (Colossians 3:3). ... “Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim. For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering above the ark and its poles.... And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord” (1 Kings 8:6-11). The “ark of the covenant” in the tabernacle and the temple of the Old Covenant speaks of the Presence of the Lord in the earth. But now under the New Covenant we have with You in Christ, our hearts our Your tabernacle, our bodies are Your temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). “The inner sanctuary of the house,” the “most holy place,” is where our human spirits embrace the communion of Your Holy Spirit—spirit to Spirit, heart to Heart, deep to Deep. We draw near to You and You draw near to us (James 4:8). We abide in You and You abide in us (John 15:4). Just as the priests of the Old Covenant could not stand on their feet as the glory of the Presence of the Lord filled the temple, so no flesh of ours can stand in the manifest Presence of our holy God who fills the temple of our hearts with Your Holy Spirit. “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9). And “at the name of Jesus every knee must bow” (Philippians 2:10). Come fill Your temple, Holy Spirit of God. Let Jesus be high and lifted up in my heart and life, now in this communion of prayer and throughout the moments of my day. Let the love of God my Father fill me up and flow through me with the power of the Presence of God that nothing in me that is not yet like You can stand but rather must bow. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all” (2 Corinthians 13:14). Morning by Morning, September 8, 2025 – The Narrow Way Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lead me in the narrow way of Your will on my walk of faith in You today. ... “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Matthew 7:13-14). Or in the words of The Message version of this Passage: “Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.” My walk of faith with You can’t be a shortcut; it’s planned by You to be a long and winding journey, full of challenging and unexpected turns, with places to rest in You and refocus on You all along the way. It’s not just getting by with the least amount of time and attention I allow around the margins of my day; it’s letting Your will be the center of my focus. It’s not just choosing to be Your disciple when it’s convenient or painless or easy; it’s committing to see You as my “All in All” where “Christ is all” (Colossians 3:11). It’s coming to the place in my heart, the place in my perspective of life that “(I) have died, and (my) life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3). Choosing the narrow way, going through the narrow gate, is knowing and embracing the Truth that I have been “bought with a price” and I am “no longer (my) own” so that my heart is Your home and my body is Your temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). It’s setting my sights on the destiny of my spiritual journey of seeking to grow in spiritual maturity every day and every step of the way (Ephesians 4:11), even when—and maybe even especially when—I stumble or fall or get off the trail, but am desiring for You to lift me up and dust me off and get me back on the path of the narrow way You set before me each day. The narrow way is desiring to be able to say of a truth one day, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). That’s not the wide gate; that’s the narrow gate. That not the wide way; that’s the narrow way. But by the power of the grace of God at work within me, that’s the way I choose, because I know this is Your will for me to choose this way. I can’t even desire it apart from You, much less do it apart from You. And I thank You that I don’t have to, because You are the One who gives me both the desire and the power to do what pleases You in choosing and walking this narrow way (Philippians 2:13). Apart from You, I can do nothing (John 15:5). And by the mercy and grace of God, I never have to be apart from You, for You are with me “always” (Matthew 28:20). The simple truth You’re reaffirming in my heart this morning is simply this: When I truly choose to surrender my life and the moments of my day to Your will, trusting You to not only be my Savior but also my Lord, I’m choosing the Narrow Way because I’m choosing You, for You are “the Way”—“the Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). I know I have far to go on this journey toward spiritual maturity. But given what I know, what You’ve shown me and taught me and empowered me to desire for my walk of faith on this journey with You, there is no other way for me that will be truly fulfilling in my life but to follow You and embrace the narrow way You set before me each day. I know You will be faithful to bring to completion the good work You have begun in me (Philippians 1:6). In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, September 5, 2025 – “He Sent Forth His Word”

 

Morning by Morning, September 5, 2025 – “He Sent Forth His Word” Good morning, Lord Jesus. In the communion of prayer, I begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ... “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,     and He delivered them from their distress; He sent forth his word, and healed them,     and delivered them from destruction. Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,     for His wonderful works to the sons of men!” (Psalm 107:19-21) There’s power in Your word. And there’s no limitation of time or space for Your word. In Your Spirit and by Your word, You are with us “always” and with us everywhere (Matthew 28:20). When the woman whose daughter desperately needed deliverance from “an unclean spirit,” You sent forth Your word and her daughter was set free (Mark 7:24-30). “She went home, and found the child lying in bed, and the demon gone” (v. 30). When the Roman centurion’s servant was sick at the point of death, You sent forth Your word and the servant was healed (Luke 7:1-10). The soldier had “such faith” to know to say to You, “But say the word, and let my servant be healed” (v. 7). And he was. When the governmental official “went and begged (You) to heal his son” who was “at the point of death,” You didn’t go to him physically but sent forth Your word spiritually (John 4:46-54). And he was healed at that very hour (v. 54). Also, “he himself believed, and all his household” (v. 53). In these moments recorded in the Word of God, the one who needed healing or freedom wasn’t present before You. But someone who loved them, someone who was interceding for them, came before You. And You heard. You answered. You sent forth Your word and healed them. You affirmed their tenacity for coming to You in faith, for trusting You to send forth Your word. Lord Jesus, move in my heart to keep tenaciously coming to You in faith for each one of those You’ve put on my heart to pray for their healing and freedom and that they would believe in You. Deliver them from their distress. Send forth Your word and heal them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
