Morning by Morning, September 11, 2025 – “Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant” — Honoring the Life and Passion of Charlie Kirk Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart, as I entrust my heart and my life and every moment of my day to You — Father, Son and Holy Spirit of God. ... As I join with those around the world who mourn and grieve the deep loss of the life and passion, the witness and faith, the courage and authenticity of Charlie Kirk, the words of another spiritual leader, recorded in Scripture at the end of his life come to mind: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8). Charlie Kirk has received his crown of righteousness. He has heard those words we all long to hear when we’ve finished our race, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21). He laid down his life, though far too soon, as his life was taken from him, doing what he loved, fulfilling his calling of boldly speaking the truth in love, courageously living the conscience of his heart and inspiring others to do the same, to stand up and speak out, even if they vehemently disagreed. You were 33 when You laid down Your life. Charlie Kirk was 31. He was not Jesus. As none of us are. But he truly was an “ambassador for Christ” as we all should aspire to be (2 Corinthians 5:20). As a husband and father, and foremost, a follower of Jesus, he was “salt” and “light” in the hardness and darkness of our world, sharing the truth he had found in his heart and sought to live with his life (Matthew 5:13-16). He will be missed. He will be remembered. And through his witness and legacy of boldly living out the freedom we have to speak and to worship and to witness our faith and conscience of our hearts, in the public square and everywhere we go, His heart and passion and example will live on. He was an influencer in our world, but now his influence will even increase: “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves Me must follow Me; and where I am, My servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me” (John 12:24-26). Charlie Kirk served You well. And through his death, “many seeds” will be produced. Seeds of a harvest of righteousness and revival in hearts across this land. Especially in the hearts of this young generation who have witnessed such a bold life of faith and courageous stand of one who is willing to believe and to live out the truth he has found while encouraging others to do the same. With thoughts and prayers, we pray for his grieving family and for all who knew him and loved him, who were inspired and moved by him, whether agreeing with him or not. And at the same time, we celebrate that he is now home, having taken his place with “such a great cloud of witnesses” in the heavenly realm, cheering us on to run our race, to fight the good fight of our faith, and to finish our course well, just as he had done, “fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Morning by Morning, September 10, 2025 – Teaching, Equipping and Making Disciples of Jesus Good morning, Lord Jesus. I’m listening for Your leading, as I begin my day embraced by Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit (John 10:27). ... “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check” (James 3:1-2). Last night, I began teaching my annual 9 Month discipleship and equipping course at The Bridge, our homebase church in Fredericksburg, Texas, called Free to Be Like Jesus. I began with excitement and passion, but also with a measure of fear and trembling, remembering this Verse and the high standard that goes with this high calling to teach Your Word and the principles of Your Kingdom in the power and authority of Your Spirit. I know I “stumble in many ways” and am always in need of Your forgiveness and grace, as well as Your wisdom and anointing, as I try to share and impart what I’ve learned along the way, including both the confirmations and the mistakes, in nearly 30 years of ministry now (Romans 1:11). There are things I teach now that I didn’t teach when I prepared this curriculum out of the book I believe You led me to write many years ago. And there are things I don’t teach now that I did teach then, as You’ve corrected me and redirected me through Your loving discipline and holy conviction, helping me and empowering me to teach and speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). None of us have it all figured out. And I know I don’t. But I am on a journey to learn and to grow, to share what I’ve learned and to keep learning in what I share. Learning and teaching is part of Your plan to disciple us as we “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:20). It’s part of Your plan to “equip the saints for the work of ministry” as You’re “building up the body of Christ” on our journey to spiritual “maturity” in You: “(Jesus) Himself granted that some are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. “We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love” (Ephesians 4:11-16). You’re setting us all Free to Be Like Jesus. You’re setting us free from all that would hold us back from being all You created us to be. You’re setting us free to be like You in our world (1 John 4:17), free to be the “body of Christ” in our world (1 Corinthians 12:27), free to be “ambassadors for Christ” in our world (2 Corinthians 5:20). In the love of our Father, in the name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are on a spiritual journey through everything we go through and everything we learn to overcome, as You are saving us, healing us, freeing us, discipling us, while conforming us into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). As we pursue You and behold You, “we are being transformed into (Your) image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). “For this is the will of God, (our) sanctification” (1 Thessalonians 4:3 and 5:23). Like You, I want to be one who teaches with authority (Matthew 7:29). And I want You to be the Source of all I teach and all I do, all I am and all I am becoming on my journey, with all Your disciples, seeking to be more like You each day. “To this (we) were called, because Christ suffered for us, leaving us an Example, that (we) should follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). Morning by Morning, September 9, 2025 – The Glory of the Lord Fills the Temple of Our Hearts Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the heart of my life and all that I am, all that I say, all that I do (Colossians 3:3). ... “Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim. For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering above the ark and its poles.... And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord” (1 Kings 8:6-11). The “ark of the covenant” in the tabernacle and the temple of the Old Covenant speaks of the Presence of the Lord in the earth. But now under the New Covenant we have with You in Christ, our hearts our Your tabernacle, our bodies are Your temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). “The inner sanctuary of the house,” the “most holy place,” is where our human spirits embrace the communion of Your Holy Spirit—spirit to Spirit, heart to Heart, deep to Deep. We draw near to You and You draw near to us (James 4:8). We abide in You and You abide in us (John 15:4). Just as the priests of the Old Covenant could not stand on their feet as the glory of the Presence of the Lord filled the temple, so no flesh of ours can stand in the manifest Presence of our holy God who fills the temple of our hearts with Your Holy Spirit. “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9). And “at the name of Jesus every knee must bow” (Philippians 2:10). Come fill Your temple, Holy Spirit of God. Let Jesus be high and lifted up in my heart and life, now in this communion of prayer and throughout the moments of my day. Let the love of God my Father fill me up and flow through me with the power of the Presence of God that nothing in me that is not yet like You can stand but rather must bow. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all” (2 Corinthians 13:14). In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged today.
