 Morning by Morning, October 23 - "The People Who Know Their God" will "Stand Firm and Take Action" with "Great Exploits"

 

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirt of God. ...

 

"Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits" (Daniel 11:32 NKJV). "He shall seduce with intrigue those who violate the covenant; but the people who are loyal to their God shall stand firm and take action" (NRSV).

 

Daniel spoke of the days of spiritual battle to come. Many of his words have come to pass at various levels of prophetic fulfillment, and yet some are reserved for ultimate fulfillment at "the time of the end" (Daniel 11:40 and 12:9). And certainly our days are days filled with spiritual battles of aggressive wickedness against the Covenant of God, filled and fueled with corruption, flattery, intrigue, seeking to deceive and ensnare even the people of the Covenant of God.

 

But in the face of the battles and in the midst of the darkness, those who "who know their God," those "who are loyal to their God," "shall be strong and carry out great exploits;" they "shall stand firm and take action!"

 

If we are to be strong and stand firm in these dark days, we must know our God in deeper intimacy. We must be determined to persevere in loyalty to our God and in faithfulness to the Covenant of our God. Not in our power, not in our strength. Not in our wisdom, not in our plans. But only in the power of Your Spirit, standing firm in Your Word, will we prevail. Yet not only prevail, but also overcome and advance with "great exploits" by authority in the name of our God in our words and the nature and character of our God in our hearts as our witness!

 

Through these battles, "some of the wise will fall victim to persecution" (Daniel 11:35). But even then, "they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come" (v 11:35 NLT). Even in the midst of the darkness, in the face of the onslaught of wickedness and deception in rejection of the Covenant of God and the persecution of the people of God, "Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever!" (Daniel 12:3). At "the time of the end," at the height of intensity of these spiritual battles, "Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials" even though "the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand" (v. 12:9-10).

 

Come, Holy Spirit! Come purify us, cleanse us, and refine us through these trials we face and persecution we endure. Draw us nearer to You, in deeper intimacy with You -- our Father God, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit of the Living God. May we be a people who know their God, knowing both the truth of Your Word and the power of Your Spirit. May we stand firm and take action! May we do great exploits in the power of Your name, with Your nature being formed in our hearts! And may we lead many to righteousness, as You continue to establish Your righteousness in us! As we go through these times of the end in all the spiritual battles we face, may we "Arise (and) shine; for (our) Light has come, for the glory of the Lord has risen upon (us)!" (Isaiah 60:1) In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Advancing the Unity of the Body of Christ

 

For many years, hosted and led the Greater Lexington Strategic Prayer Summit bringing together prayer warriors and worshippers, pastors and leaders, from across the many diverse streams of the River of God in the Lexington, Kentucky region to seek the Lord's heart for the coming year in unity and agreement in prayer and prophetic proclamation and intercession. Invited by Max Lucado to join him in preaching messages of healing and hope at the monthly First Wednesday Serves of Worship and Healing at Oak Hills Church for six years. Served alongside leaders of other ministries on the Board and Advisory Councils of the Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, National Christian Foundation of Kentucky, Aglow International, Spiritual Leadership, Inc., and Rapha God Ministries.

 

Some Current Projects:

 

Healing Academy--Teaching our Healing Academy for training and equipping for healing prayer ministry on Tuesday Nights over 7 weeks at The Bridge Church in Fredericksburg, Texas. Discerning other invitations in other cities and nations for this teaching and ministry. 

 

Evangelism--Monthly outdoor evangelistic crusades and outreach meetings through our Skype Internet Ministry into Pakistan in partnership with two ministries in Pakistan. I am preaching in a different village each month around Lahore, Pakistan in the Punjab Region. Our local team sets up a big screen in an outdoor meeting usually, while a pastor or evangelist simultaneously interprets my message of hope and healing live in Pakistan. Then we follow up with prayer and discipleship through our ministry partnership. Every month, between 250 and 350 souls are being saved, with many reports of healing miracles. Momentum is growing! Now other invitations with other ministries in the region are coming in with even more opportunities to be part of the awakening revival in Pakistan, such as the Pastors and Leaders Retreat we just led through Skype.

 

"Setting Hearts Free"--An Online Encounter being developed for a webinar teaching and ministry encounter, covering key principles with prayer ministry of healing from fear, trauma, rejection, shame, and emotional wounds and strongholds of the past.

 

Developing podcasts and video blogs--Bringing the transforming power of personal prayer ministry to exponentially more people through media. One series being developed focuses on contemplative prayer to experience a deeper, more intimate prayer life. Another series focuses on teaching key principles of inner healing with prayer ministry encounters. And another series focuses upon equipping and training for the ministry of inner healing and deliverance.

 

On-line personal prayer ministry sessions--Through this time of quarantine in the San Antonio area, but also reaching to many other states and nations. I recently had prayer ministry sessions in Scotland, Poland, and Sweden through Zoom. The Lord is opening doors to make our ministry much more accessible over barriers of distance, language, and cost, as He empowers us to help prepare the Bride and Body of Christ for these days of God's glory and revival in the earth.

 

City-Wide Prayer for Revival--Joining Max Lucado on the leadership team, along with other city leaders, in planning citywide prayer gatherings in San Antonio and the Hill Country region in multiple weekly prayer gatherings for revival in our land.

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill me with Your Light so I can walk in the Light today -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...

 

"Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought in; so they brought those men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar said to them, 'Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods and you do not worship the golden statue that I have set up? Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, drum, and entire musical ensemble to fall down and worship the statue that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be thrown into a furnace of blazing fire, and who is the god that will deliver you out of my hands?' Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, 'O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to present a defense to you in this matter. If our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire and out of your hand, O king, let Him deliver us. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods and we will not worship the golden statue that you have set up'" (Daniel 3:13-18).

 

Those were perilous times for those who refused to worship the god of the culture of the day. They had to make a choice. They had to take a stand. And they chose to take their stand against all the power and pressure that came against them in furious rage, intent on forcing them to turn away from their God and bow down to worship the false god being exalted in their land like everybody else. 

 

Their choice of conscience, their "vote" to whom they would devote their trust, could cost them so much more than their respectability and reputation in their culture. Their "stand" on the positions of righteousness could cost them their very lives in the fire of the furnace or their very souls in the face of heaven.

 

But in courage and faith, they chose what was right. They chose to face the fire and the fury of those who sought to silence their voice and defile their God and force them to forsake their faith, no matter the cost.

 

"Then Nebuchadnezzar was so filled with rage against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that his face was distorted. He ordered the furnace heated up seven times more than was customary, and ordered some of the strongest guards in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and to throw them into the furnace of blazing fire. So the men were bound, still wearing their tunics, their trousers, their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the furnace of blazing fire" (Daniel 3:19-21).

 

But then their perilous times became deeply precious times. You drew near to them in the intimacy of Your Presence. You stood with them in the mist of the fire and in the face of their tormentors.

 

^"Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, 'Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?' They answered and said to the king, 'True, O king.' 'Look!' he answered, 'I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.' Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.' Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came from the midst of the fire. And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king's counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them" (Daniel 3:24-27).

 

Lord, let these perilous times become our most precious times. Give us courage and faith to stand firm for You and for what is right. By the power of Your grace, may we refuse to bow down to the false gods of our culture, even in the face of all the power and pressure coming against us to shut up and back down. 

 

No matter the cost, may we choose You. May we choose to stand firm, to speak out, to pray and to vote, for what is right. You'll be with us through whatever fire and fury we face. And may our courage and faith even become a powerful witness to our tormentors, that even they may come to acknowledge the Most High God. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Walking Together in Agreement with Heaven - October 20, 2020

Morning by Morning, October 20 - Walking Together in Agreement with Heaven

 

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my heart with Your Spirit and my mouth with Your words, as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...

 

"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" (Amos 3:3)

 

I want to walk with You in the cool of the morning and throughout the moments of my day. I want to be led by Your Spirit, in agreement with Your will, and walking in Your ways.

 

I want this for myself, for my family, for my community, for my nation and for every relationship of my life. I want my will, my words, and my ways to be in agreement with heaven -- here on earth as it is in heaven, here in me as it is in You. I want to walk in the light and walk with the Light and with those who are also choosing to walk in the light and with the One who is the Light.

 

"This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:5-7).

 

In the days of the prophet Amos, You spoke to the people of the nation to return to You and walk with You, to walk in light with You and in agreement with You. You warned them they couldn't walk with You unless they were in agreement with You. They couldn't have intimacy with You, favor with You, protection with You, guidance with You, blessings of their covenant relationship with You unless they returned to You with all their heart to walk with You in agreement with You and Your ways.

 

You said of those times, "It is an evil time" (Amos 5:13). Yet, Your heart for them and their nation was that they would return to You and take hold of Your will and Your ways in their hearts and their land.

 

"Seek good and not evil,
that you may live;
So the Lord God of hosts will be with you,
as you have spoken.

Hate evil, love good;
establish justice in the gate.
It may be that the Lord God of hosts
will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph" (Amos 5:14-15).

 

Like the nation of Israel, we need Your grace. We need You. And we believe You have raised up a remnant who are crying out to You as watchmen on the walls and intercessors for the nation, to seek Your will and seek to walk with You in agreement with Your ways -- seeking good, not evil; hating evil and loving good. Desiring and doing what is right. Fighting for what is right. Praying for what is right. Voting for what is right. Standing up and speaking out for what is right. "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people" (Proverbs 14:34).

 

Despite all Your words of conviction and call to repentance, Your final words to Israel through the prophet Amos were words of hope and restoration for the time to of refreshing and renewal to come:

 

"On that day I will raise up
The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down,
and repair its damages;
I will raise up its ruins,
and rebuild it as in the days of old;

That they may possess the remnant of Edom, 
and all the Gentiles who are called by My name,"
says the Lord who does this thing.

"Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord,
"When the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
and the treader of grapes him who sows seed;
the mountains shall drip with sweet wine,
and all the hills shall flow with it.

I will bring back the captives of My people Israel;
they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them;
they shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.

I will plant them in their land,
And no longer shall they be pulled up
From the land I have given them,"
says the Lord your God" (Amos 9:11-15).

 

Align my heart with those whose hearts are aligned with Yours. Align the heart of my nation with the heart of heaven. May we be agreed with You and walk in Your ways, even -- and especially -- through these evil days where You are display the light of Your glory in the very midst of the darkness (Isaiah 60:1-3). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

 Morning by Morning, October 19 - He Delights to Give Me the Desires of My Heart

 

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my life and every moment of my day. ...

 

"Trust in the Lord, and do good;
    so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.

Take delight in the Lord,
    and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in Him, and He will act.

He will make your vindication shine like the light,
    and the justice of your cause like the noonday" (Psalm 37:3-6).

 

You entrust the desires of my heart to me as I entrust my heart to Your desires. You commit to act for me as I commit my ways to You.

 

It's all a question of trust. Do I trust You to know what's best for me? Do I trust that in surrendering all, I actually gain all -- all that is good and right and best for me and the lives You would touch and love through me during this little sliver of time I have to make a difference in my world. 

 

The more I trust You, the more I'm willing to surrender to You. And the more I surrender to You, the more I find I can trust You, and then surrender even more to You. More of You, less of me -- "less of me" in the sense of yielding my will to Your will and allowing Your ways to become my ways and Your desires to become my desires. That's how You can delight in giving me the desires of my heart, as my heart learns to take delight in You.

 

By the power of Your grace at work within me, teach my heart to delight in You. Empower me to trust in Your ways. Make me wise to trust in Your wisdom. Free me to surrender more to Your will. By the promise of Your Word, You will move and You will act as I commit my way to You and trust in You.

 

I can't do any of this on my own or in my power. But setting aside my pride, willingly choosing to humble myself in Your sight, You will lift me up and set things right -- here in my heart and every area of my life. Then I will witness You giving me the desires of my heart, just as You said. Then I will sense You delighting in me, as I delight in You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
