Morning by Morning, September 19, 2024 - “Joined” as “One” with God in the Mystery of Faith   Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re One with the Father, One with the Holy Spirit, and I embrace Your invitation to each of us to be one with You--for “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). ...   Let my heart be joined with Your Heart. Let my mind be joined with Your Mind. Let my will be joined with Your will and my ways be joined with Your ways.   In marriage, Your Word says, “a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh” (Matthew 19:5; Genesis 2:24). In the joining of hearts and minds, there’s such a profound mystery of unity where the husband and wife both retain their individuality, but at the same time, “the two become one.” While separate in their unique identity in one sense, something also changes as they are joined together. “So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate” (Mathew 19:6).   In a similar way, that’s the invitation You offer to us--to become “one” with You, even as we maintain our unique identity. You’ll always be our Creator and we will always be Your created. You’ll always be our Savior and we will always be those You came to seek and to save. And at the same, You join us together as “one” with You--“one” with the Father, “one” with the Son, and “one” with the Holy Spirit in this profound mystery of faith. And in that same mystery of faith, nothing “shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).   You expressed Your passion for this unity of spirit in one of Your final prayers before going to the cross in Your great sacrifice of love: “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us.... I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me” (John 17:20-23).   Lord, give me grace to embrace this Truth and live into this mystery of faith where I’m joined with You as “one” forever and ever. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, September 18 - “Kings and Priests” of Our God   Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of Kings and Lord of Lords, come rule and reign in my heart and every moment of my day (Revelation 19:16). ...   “John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:   “Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.   “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.   “‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty’” (Revelation 1:4-8).   The Apostle John wrote these words from an island prison in exile from the world. But his heart was free, his faith was strong, his hope was secure as a citizen of Heaven and a son of God.   John was confident in his identity and declared the same of us--we are “kings and priests” to our God. “Kings” because we’ve been entrusted with dominion in our spheres of influence in this world under the authority of the One who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. “Priests” because we’ve been made holy by the Blood of the Lamb who has cleansed us from our sins that we might enter into the holy place of the very Presence of our God as we worship in spirit and truth.   As we read and hear these Words, as we embrace and live this Truth, we are “blessed” by God and anointed by the Holy Spirit as “kings and priests” (v. 3). And our hearts are filled with faith and love of the One “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty!   One day You will be “coming in the clouds, and every eye will see (You).” But every moment of every day between now and that day to come, we can invite You to come in our hearts, to rule and reign in our lives--secure in our identity and fulfilling our destiny in You. To You, Lord God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--“be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, September 12 - “He Will Say ‘Here I AM’”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name over every area of my life and bring every area of my life under the authority of Your name (Philippians 2:9). ...   “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am’” (Isaiah 58:6-9).   O Lord, I want to hear You say “Here I AM” when I cray out. I want to know that You see my needs, that You know my struggles, that You’re with me in my battles, that You are for me and with me, guiding me and empowering me into all You have for me and desire to do through me.   So give me a right heart. Develop in me a right character. Form right motives in my desires and right thinking in my mind. Give me Your perspective of who I am, of who You are in me, and the priorities You have for me as I now go about the moments of my day.   Crucify the selfishness of my flesh. Deliver me from evil and pull down the strongholds of pride and self-centeredness. Forgive me for wasting Your resources and the time You’ve entrusted to me during this small sliver of time You’ve entrusted to me on this side of Heaven in the ways that don’t align with Your will and Your ways. And thank You for the opportunities You’ve given me to be in the flow of Your Spirit and the center of Your will--as best as I can and all by Your grace.   As I seek to begin this day with You renewing a right spirit within me, let Your Light “break forth like the morning” and let Your glory be my “rear guard.” Let Your “righteousness” go before me because You’ve set things right within me by the power of Your grace and the mercy of Your love. In the power and authority of Your name, let bonds of wickedness be released, heavy burdens be lifted, crippling yokes be broken, healing spring forth speedily, and the oppressed be set free! All for Your glory! All in the way You have chosen! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
