"Not Without Honor" 3-18-09

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I fall short, but You never do. I look up, and always find You. … "Then Jesus said to them, 'Prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house' " (Mark 6:4). Sometimes those closest to us find it hardest to honor us. They know us too well; they know all our faults and failures, our self-centeredness and sin. And as they say, familiarity breeds contempt. But You know me better than anyone, and You still love me as Your child and honor me as Your son. "As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear Him. For He knows how we were made; He remembers that we are dust" (Psalm 103:13). "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). So there is not one among us who does not need Your mercy every moment of every day. We all need to know we are honored and loved in spite of our failures and sins -- even in our hometown, among our own kin, and in our own house. "For all of us make many mistakes" (James 3:2). And all of us need the comfort and the grace of the One who makes no mistakes. "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may have mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:15-16). Thank You, Lord, for loving me and honoring me, despite all You know about me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged today!
