Morning by Morning, February 1 - Knowing "This is the Way"
Good morning, Lord Jesus. One with the Father, One with the Holy Spirit, be One with me as I abide in You and You abide in me. "Anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him" (1 Corinthians 6:17). ...
As I listen for Your leading, You're bringing this Scripture to mind: "When you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21).
Lord, I need to hear Your voice. I need to sense Your leading. You know each challenge before me. And You know how to turn every challenge into an opportunity to make me more like You. That gives me peace and that gives me hope. In a way it makes every day a "no lose" situation when even the hard things You redeem into good things and even my mistakes You redeem in Your mercy. "Though (the righteous) fall seven times, they will rise again" (Proverbs 24:16). And by Your mercy and grace, I'm righteous in You, because You're right here in me -- "Christ in (me), the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27).
Open my eyes to see. Open my ears to hear. Make my spirit one with Your Spirit so that I know "This is the way" and I can walk in it. "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God" (Romans 8:14).
You're bringing to mind a memory from when I was younger and we had horses. I learned that to turn the horse to the left or the right, you were not supposed to jerk the reins in that direction but gently lay the reins on the side of the horse's neck and he would turn. Make me that sensitive, Lord. Bring me into that deeper place of communion with You to sense Your leading and follow Your prompting.
Give me the grace to trust You know what's best and the courage to trust Your leading. Give me the faith to believe the promise of Your Word and the obedience to live it out each day: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Then I'll know the way; and then I'll walk in it. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
