Morning by Morning, June 29 - Is Being “Woke” the Counterfeit that Precedes the “Great Awakening?”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be the King of my heart and the Lord of my life, as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone” (Isaiah 9:2).
Lord Jesus, You fulfilled this prophetic Word when You came in Your glory at Your first coming. As the Gospel of Matthew records:
“And leaving Nazareth (Jesus) went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
‘The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--
the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned.’
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand’” (Matthew 4:13-17).
And now, as we prepare for Your second coming -- here in our hearts and here in our world -- Your prophetic Word is being fulfilled in our day as well. For these are days of “people dwelling in darkness” and “in the region and shadow of death.” But at the same time, these are days where Your Light is breaking in to our darkness and the Light of a new day is dawning.
Though every day I read more accounts of things happening in my world that grieve my spirit and make me sick to my stomach, also in fulfillment of Your prophetic Word -- fulfilled in measure in the days of Isaiah, fulfilled in measure in the days of Your first coming, being fulfilled in measure in the days before Your second coming:
“Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20).
I just read of an account of a naked man walking into the women’s section of a day spa where women and underage girls were exposed to his biological male parts because of his ideological female orientation at the moment. How can that be right? Or good? Or honoring? Or healthy? Or even sane?
And yet, there is a great movement in our land of “people dwelling in darkness” who have not seen “a great light” of the Truth of Your Word, grounded in the authority of Scripture, and confirmed by the conscience of a spirit seeking to be sensitive and filled with Your Holy Spirit.
Our world of “Wokeism” is ready for a “Great Awakening!” There’s always “the real” and “the counterfeit,” while often “the counterfeit” comes just before “the real” breaks forth. Being “woke” may turn out to be the great counterfeit before the Great Awakening. The darkness of our world is primed and ready for the “Great Light” to break forth in the Dawn of a New Day!
As Your Word also prophecies in ever-increasing measures of fulfillment:
“Arise, shine, for your Light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and His glory will be seen upon you!” (Isaiah 60:1-2)
Come, Holy Spirit in the Light of Your glory. Come break into our world with a breakout of revival in our land! Come let Truth arise and Freedom ring to overcome our darkness with the Kingdom of Your glorious Light!
“The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ!” (2 Corinthians 4:4-6).
Great Light shine! Great harvest grow ripe for the reaping of the salvation of souls like our world has never seen! (Matthew 13:39) Great Awakening come!
Let those who think they are “woke” be “awakened” with the Light of the glory God and the Truth of His Word, revealed in the heart and the face of Jesus Christ!
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you!” (Ephesians 5:14)
“Arise and shine for your Light has come!” (Isaiah 60:1)
Let this world that seems increasingly turned upside down in these days be turned upside down by the Light and Truth, by the Love and Grace of the Glory of God breaking into our world! (Acts 17:6) Let us hear in our hearts Your timeless call to revival and awakening in our land: “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!” (Matthew 4:17) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
