Morning by Morning, February 15 - Who We Are and What We’re Living For
Good morning, Lord Jesus. What’s on Your heart today? I watch and wait for the leading of Your Spirit -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone” (Ephesians 1:11-12 The Message).
You have an “overall purpose” You are “working out in everything and everyone.” “For we are (Your) masterpiece. (You have) created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things (You) planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT).
You give us the grace to discover who we are, to live into who we are. You use every battle we fight and every challenge we face. You use every stronghold we overcome and every lie we renounce, as we come to understand Your Words of Truth, “Apart from Me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5) and at the same time, “Remember, I AM with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
You make us who we are. You empower us to live into our identity and fulfill our destiny in You. And You take everything we endure and overcome to melt us and mold us, to strengthen us and shape us for Your purposes. And one of Your greatest purposes is to make us more like You every day -- to be conformed into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29), to change us into Your image from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18), to empower us to participate in Your nature (2 Peter 1:4). For as You are, so are we to be in our world (1 John 4:17).
Come, Holy Spirit of the Living God. As the old spiritual song of personal revival declares, “Make me, mold me, fill me, use me” to display Your glory through my life today -- “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Secure in the Truth and the hope of my calling, my identity, and my destiny in You, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us!” (Romans 8:18) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
