Morning by Morning, November 2 - Faith, Family, and the Fear of the Lord Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for the leading of Your Spirit to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ... “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! May you see your children's children! Peace be upon Israel!” (Psalm 128:1-6) All the blessings of God, all the blessings upon Abraham and the covenant people of God, are ours in Christ by Your grace through our faith. “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:14). At the heart of these blessings is a calling to center the priorities of our lives around faith, family, and the fear of the Lord. Then through the grace of God, our lives are positioned to embrace Your promises with fruitfulness, prosperity, and peace. Then “it shall be well with (us).” “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 1:3). We are blessed to be a blessing -- in the community where we work, in the nation where we vote, among the people we call neighbors and friends, along the journey of our daily encounters with the people we engage and the challenges we face. We are blessed to abide in You as You abide in us to carry Your Presence everywhere You position us and send us to be Your salt and Your light to make a difference in our world (John 15:5; Matthew 5:13-16). Lord, let these Biblical values be at the center of my values and be the plumbline for my life. May they influence how I discern issues, how I make decisions, how I live and how I vote, how I judge what is right and what is true. And give me the courage to live out Your convictions -- even the courage to swim against the current of any of the Christ-less-ness in our culture and take my stand against the tide of tyranny against these Biblical convictions. For we are called and blessed to be “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for (God’s) own possession, that (we) may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called (us) out of darkness into His marvelous Light” (1 Peter 2:9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the love of Jesus, Tommy Hays My friend, may you be courageous in your convictions that are centered in the Word and will of God in your discernment and all your choices to represent Christ in your world, in Jesus' name. God bless you!
