Morning by Morning, March 19, 2026 — From Humility to Honor
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let me hear what’s on Your heart, as I seek You and listen for Your leading to begin my day embracing Your Presence within me and all around me (Colossians 1:27). ...
As I wait, what comes to my heart is Your Word concerning humility:
“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
‘God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” ...
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up” (James 4:6, 10).
You don’t say we should say we are humble. You don’t say we should look to others to say we are humble. You say, “Humble yourselves.”
In a practical way, to “humble” myself is to willingly choose to be desperately dependent upon You alone. To “humble’ myself is to admit that “Apart from (You), (I) can do nothing” (John 15:5).
Humility opens the door to Your grace—to Your power, Your favor, Your provision, to all I need from You that I could never provide for myself. And Your heart is to “give more grace.”
But pride is the problem. My pride—my insistence upon my self-sufficiency, depending on my own power or wisdom or ways apart from You and Your power or wisdom or ways—is what blocks Your grace and more of Your grace. You resist the proud and my pride resists You.
So forgive me for every form of my pride and insistence upon self-sufficiency. Set me free from that. And make more room for more of Your grace in my life.
As I humble myself, You lift me up. You bring me from humility to honor.
So, by the power of Your grace, I willingly choose to be desperately dependent upon You alone. This day and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
