Morning by Morning, June 10, 2026 — A Word of “Joy!” for My 65th Birthday from Isaiah 65
Good morning, Lord Jesus. On my birthday morning, I look up to You and open up my heart to embrace You as Lord and Savior, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, One with my Father, One with the Holy Spirit, and One within me as a son of God and disciple of Jesus Christ. ...
On this day, my sixty-fifth birthday (one of the big ones!), as has become my tradition for each year, I’m turning to the 65th Chapter of the Book of Isaiah, to hear what You might speak to me through Your Word about this year. These Verses stand out to me, speaking of the hope that’s to fill our hearts of Your ultimate fulfillment of Your Word in our world:
“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, And her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying.
“No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed. They shall build houses and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; They shall not plant and another eat; For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, Nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, And their offspring with them.
“It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,” Says the Lord” (Isaiah 65:17-25).
All of This is so good!
One key theme that speaks to my spirit this morning and for this year is “joy!” I’m so thankful for the gift of joy You’ve given me. I know it’s not from me, but all from You. Joy that persists and perseveres, even through the heartaches and heartbreaks I’ve endured, yet overcome, by the power of Your grace at work in my life for all these 65 years!
I remember that even in my earlier years living my dream of being courtroom trial lawyer, even my opponents often commented on my joy. But they were really commenting on Your joy within me. Joy is one of the great signs of the Kingdom of God within us—“For the Kingdom of God is … righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 14:17)
I’m thankful that over thirty years ago, I heard Your words in my heart: “You’ve represented your clients before the judges and juries of this world, but now You will represent Me before the courts of Heaven.” …
Yes, Lord! What a joy it has been! What a joy it will be!
I don’t know the heartaches and heartbreaks that are yet to come on my continued journey of faith through this broken and fallen world on my way to the day of the “new heavens and a new earth.” But I know You will be with me. And I know Your Spirit will be abiding within me.
And that means I’ll continue to be filled with joy! “Righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 14:17). I’ll “be glad and rejoice forever in what (You) create” (Isaiah 65:18) and all You’ve redeemed and restored, all You’ve done and all You will do, by Your mercy and grace in my life—Morning by Morning and moment by moment through it all!
Thank You for the Promise of Your Word as Your 65th Birthday Gift to me this morning! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
