Know Jesus More, Not Just Know More About Jesus - September 27, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, September 27 - Know Jesus More, Not Just Know More About Jesus Good morning, Lord Jesus. You said Your sheep hear Your voice and follow You because they know You (John 10:27). Morning by morning, moment by moment, I’m seeking You, listening for You, coming to know You, so I can follow You and be more like You. For this is the core purpose of my journey through this life -- to be conformed into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). ... As I wait and listen for Your leading this morning, I believe I hear in my heart:  “Most of those in the world don’t want to know Me at all. For wide is the way that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that leads to life. But many among My people who know My name and call themselves by My name seek to know more about Me than seek to truly know Me. Be one who responds to the yearning of My heart to know Me. Pursue Me. Hear Me. Spend time with Me. Allow Me to conform you into My image, as you seek to become one with Me. I will do this in you to the degree you embrace My invitation to allow Me to do this in you.” ... Yes, Lord. What comes to mind from Your Written Word to confirm what I believe I hear by Your spoken word in my spirit is from 2 Corinthians, Chapter 3: “And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18). And this Word from Philippians, Chapter 3: “More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of know Christ Jesus my Lord.... I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the sharing of His sufferings by becoming like Him in His death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal, but I press on to make it my own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us then who are mature be of the same mind” (Philippians 3:8-15). Yes, Lord. By the power of Your grace, by the moving of Your Spirit, at work within me, I embrace Your invitation to press on, to keep pressing in, to come to know You more -- more every day, more every way, morning by morning, moment by moment, on my journey through this life with You. As You are, so am I to be, so am I to become, on my journey through this world, where You use everything to draw me closer to You and make me more like You each day (1 John 4:17). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! “Bless the Lord, O My Soul!” - September 23, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, September 23 - “Bless the Lord, O My Soul!” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Take me by the heart and lead me by Your Spirit into all You have for me today and all You desire to do through me today -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “Bless the Lord, O my soul,     and all that is within me,     bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul,     and do not forget all His benefits-- who forgives all your iniquity,     who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit,     who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live     so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (Psalm 103:1-5). With the heart of David, moved by Your Spirit, I bless You, Lord, with all my soul and all is within me. I love You and I trust You. I remember You and all You’ve done in me and for me. In Your mercy and love, You’ve forgiven me and healed me; You’ve redeemed me and renewed me. You’ve satisfied me with good; and at the same time, You keep moving within me to long for more -- more of You, more of Your Spirit, more of Your love, more of Your nature, more of Your power. You keep filling me with Your Spirit and crowning me with Your life. So I bless You. I honor You. I worship and adore You. And I’m excited for You to come have Your way in me and through me today. With an Unveiled Face, Seeing the Glory of the Lord - September 22, 2021

Morning by Morning, September 22 - With an Unveiled Face, Seeing the Glory of the Lord Good morning, Lord Jesus. Thank You for drawing me near to walk more closely with You on my journey of faith and life in You -- morning by morning, moment by moment, one day at a time. ... “Since, then, we have such a hope, we act with great boldness, not like Moses, who put a veil over his face to keep the people of Israel from gazing at the end of the glory that was being set aside. But their minds were hardened. Indeed, to this very day, when they hear the reading of the old covenant, that same veil is still there, since only in Christ is it set aside. Indeed, to this very day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their minds; but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:12-18). In Christ, the veil is set aside. And “only in Christ is it set aside” (v. 14). And now, there is no veil between us. Now, there is nothing to separate us. Now, I can look up and behold You, “seeing the glory of the Lord” with an “unveiled” face, with an unhindered heart, because You’ve opened the eyes of my heart to see You by Your Spirit (Ephesians 1:18). And as I behold You, as I seek You and see Your glory in worship, in prayer, in the communion of the intimacy of Your Presence, I’m being “transformed into (Your) image” (2 Corinthians 3:18). You’re making me more like You every day, in every moment that I open up and look up to You to behold Your glory. For we become like the One we worship -- “from degree of glory to another” -- “from glory to glory” (v. 18 KJV). Thank You for removing the veil at the Cross, Lord Jesus (Matthew 27:51). Thank You for removing the veil from my heart, Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18). Thank You for removing the veil of all that would ever separate me from the love of God through the Self-less Sacrifice of Your Only Begotten Son, my Heavenly Father (John 3:16). Keep changing me, keep transforming me, keep making me more like You every day, “from glory to glory,” every morning and every moment. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Feast of Tabernacles Fulfilled in Christ -- September 21, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, September 21 - Feast of Tabernacles Fulfilled in Christ Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... Beginning at sunset last night and for a festival of eight days, we’ve entered the Biblical season of the Feast of Tabernacles -- now fulfilled in Jesus Christ -- along with all the feasts and prophecies of the Word of God (Colossian 2:16-17). “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (literally, “tabernacled” among us), and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). This Feast of Tabernacles was set forth as one of the “appointed festivals of the Lord,” to be celebrated as “a statute forever in your generations” in the prophetic feasts of Leviticus 23 -- to be lived out by Israel in the natural realm of the Old Covenant in the Law and now lived out in the Spirit by all the Body of Christ in the spiritual realm of our New Covenant in Christ: “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord. On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it. ‘These are the feasts of the Lord which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the Lord, a burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on its day--besides the Sabbaths of the Lord, besides your gifts, besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you give to the Lord. ‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.’ So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord” (Leviticus 23:33-44). Come “tabernacle among us” Lord Jesus. Come fill the “tabernacle” of our hearts with Your Spirit. We offer to You our bodies “a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God” as our spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1). We celebrate the Feast of Your Presence tabernacling with us, even within us, now and always (Matthew 28:20; Romans 8:9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Embrace the Time of Our Visitation - September 20, 2021

Morning by Morning, September 20 - Embrace the Time of Our Visitation Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re One with my Father, One with the Holy Spirit, and I embrace You as One, here in my heart, here within me (John 17:20-24). ... “As (Jesus) came near and saw the city (of Jerusalem), He wept over it, saying, ‘If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. Indeed, the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up ramparts around you and surround you, and hem you in on every side. They will crush you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave within you one stone upon another; because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God’” (Luke 19:41-44).  Open the eyes of our heart, Lord. Awaken us from the slumber of our spirit (Ephesians 5:14). Now is the time of our visitation. You are with us now (Matthew 28:20). You are within us now (Colossians 1:27). We’re not alone and we’ll never be alone. You’ll never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). So even when the enemy of our souls comes “to steal and kill and destroy,” building up his siege ramps against us, trying to surround us and hem us in on every side to convince us there is no escape, You arise within us and declare Your word over us that we “have life and have it abundantly” in You (John 10:10). In You, we’re “more than conquerors” over anything our enemy would bring against us (Romans 8:37). For “the Spirit of Christ,” “the Spirit of God lives in (us)” (Romans 8:9). So today is our time of visitation. Today is the day of our salvation. “See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation!” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Your Word implores us, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 4:7). Yes, Lord. Today, let me see You. Today, let me hear You. Today, let me embrace You in the time of my visitation. You are with me. You are within me. Your visitation is now a habitation. Now Your Holy Spirit, Your Heavenly Presence, ever abides in me. So nothing can separate me from You and Your abiding Presence within me, no matter what may come against me. From the Promise of Your Word in Romans 8: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ... Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord! (Romans 8:31-39) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! “Ministry of Reconciliation” - September 16, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, September 16 - “Ministry of Reconciliation” Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Lord and Savior, I begin my day by surrendering to You all of my heart for every moment of my day, as best as I can and all by Your grace. ... “For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that One has died for all; therefore all have died. And He died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for them.... So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us” (2 Corinthians 5:14-19). The enemy of our souls comes to divide, but You come to unite. Our enemy tries to stir up our flesh to reject one another, but You stir up our spirit to embrace one another. You empower us to speak the truth in love and also hear the truth in love, to surrender our pride and lay down our defenses to hear Your words of conviction that lead repentance and Your words of correction that lead to maturity.  When we allow You to do this in us and in the relationships of our lives, we’re taking hold of this “ministry of reconciliation” and we’re living into this “message of reconciliation.” When we allow You to do this in us and through us, “we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). Reconciled to God, reconciled to one another, You make us stronger than before. You unite us in bonds of love not easily broken. You empower us to embrace the Promise of Your Word that love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). No, with a heart committed to this ministry and message of reconciliation, love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:7). “And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
