Morning by Morning, September 6 - Created to be like God
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me start this day and every day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:17-18).
Come, Holy Spirit. Free me to from every veil that would keep me from seeing the glory of the Lord. Stir in my heart to lift up my eyes to worship the Lord in spirit and truth. As I do, I am being transformed, changed into the image of God by the Spirit of God, from glory to glory, from the inside out.
We become like the One we worship -- "transformed into the same image." Lord God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- I want to be more like You.
I can be selfish ... You are selfless.
I can be prideful ... You are humble.
I can be sinful ... You are holy.
I can be rude ... You are kind.
I can be confused ... You are wise.
I can be deceived ... You are true.
I can be weary ... You are strong.
I can be afraid ... You are fearless.
I can be timid ... You are bold.
I can be crude ... You are pure.
I can be faithless ... You are faithful.
I can waivering ... You are steadfast.
I can be insecure ... You are confident.
I can be hurtful ... You are healing.
I can be controlling ... You are freeing.
I can be bitter ... You are forgiving.
I can be frustrated ... You are patient.
I can be stingy ... You are generous.
I can be discouraged ... You are expectant.
I can be heavy ... You are happy.
I can be lost ... You are certain.
I can be evil ... You are good.
I can be un-loveable ... You are love.
Lord, make me more like You (1 Peter 1:16). May You increase, as I decrease (John 3:30). Conform me into the image of the Son of God You've created me to be (Romans 8:29). As You are, so let me be in this world (1 John 4:17). Renew my mind and my heart from the inside out, from glory to glory (Romans 12:2). Empower me by Your Spirit to will what is right, to do what is right, to become what is right (Philippians 2:13). This is Your will for me -- that I would be like You (1 Thessalonians 5:23). It always has been and it always will be (Genesis 1:26). You created me to be like You. Lord, help me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays
