Lord of Hosts of Heaven’s Armies - November 4, 2021

Morning by Morning, November 4 - Lord of Hosts of Heaven’s Armies Good morning, Lord Jesus. Arise in my spirit, with Your faith and hope and love today, that my spirit may be one with Your Spirit -- for “anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). ... “When an attendant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. His servant said, ‘Alas, master! What shall we do?’ He replied, ‘Do not be afraid, for there are more with us than there are with them.’ Then Elisha prayed: ‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the Lord opened the eyes of the servant, and he saw; the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:15-17). Lord of Hosts -- Lord of Heaven’s Angel Armies -- Lord Sabaoth, as You are called by this name in Your Word (Malachi 3:7; Zechariah 4:6; and many others) -- come open the eyes of my heart that I may see. What the Prophet Elisha prayed for his servant is so aligned with what the Apostle Paul prayed for us as Your disciples: “I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know Him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power for us who believe, according to the working of His great power” (Ephesians 1:17-19). One the powerful expressions of Your great power is the hosts of heaven, the angel armies who surround us, watch over us, fighting for us and for our nation and for the nations of the earth who will be judged as Your “sheep” nations, who will fulfill their redemptive gifts and identities with the heart of their Shepherd (Matthew 25:31-46). Let us not be discouraged, despite anything negative we see. And let us be encouraged by everything positive that we see, because our eyes are on You. We have this “spirit of wisdom and revelation as (we) come to know (You)” -- not just with our eyes or our minds, but in our hearts (Ephesians 1:17). Yes, Lord. No matter what comes against us, not matter what tries to surround us, “there are more with us than there are with them” (2 Kings 6:16). We need not fear. Instead, we are to be filled with faith. For You are with us through whatever we go through (Isaiah 43:1-7). For You are with us always (Matthew 28:20). You’ll never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). And greater is the One who is in us that the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4). No, darkness cannot overcome the Light, but Light always overcomes the darkness (John 1:5). Lord of Hosts -- Lord of Heavens’ Angel Armies -- Lord Sabaoth, come move in the working of Your great power in my heart and my nation and the nations of the earth today. Let there be a shifting in the heavenlies and an awaking on the earth! Some may trust in governments, some may trust in horses, some may trust in chariots, but we will trust in the name of our God! The Great Turning Begins! - November 3, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, November 3 - The Great Turning Begins! Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is above every name (Philippians 2:9). And I begin my day declaring the authority of Your name above everything I’ll encounter and overcome in my world in the power of Your name today. ... “In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, saying: The Lord was very angry with your ancestors. Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts: Return to Me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds. But they did not hear or heed Me, says the Lord. Your ancestors, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your ancestors? So they repented and said, ‘The Lord of hosts has dealt with us according to our ways and deeds, just as He planned to do’” (Zechariah 1:1-6). In the days of the prophet Zechariah, You continued to love the nation of Israel -- though scattered and divided and given over to her rebellious choices as a people to turn away from the Lord our God. But You kept sending forth Your word. You kept calling her to repent and to return. You said, “Return to Me ... and I will return to you” (v. 3). And they did. “They repented” and returned to You (v. 6). And You returned to them, declaring, “I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion” (v. 16). When they returned to You, You returned to them and began to restore Your nation from the place of her judgment and exile (Ezra 1:1-4). So it is with our nation. And every nation. Your heart is to restore and redeem, not to defeat and destroy. And Your heart is to move mightily in response to our hearts moving humbly in repentance and prayer, returning to You that You may return to us. Your promise of return and covenant of revival upon the condition of repentance is a true today for the nations of the earth as it was in the days of the judgment of Israel: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 3:6-7). Many sense in the Spirit there is a great turning now happening in our land. There is a shifting in the heavenlies and shifting in the hearts of the people of our land. Lord, let it be so! Lord, let us return to You that You may return to us! Lord of hosts, send the hosts of heaven, the angel armies of the Lord, across our land as Your Holy Spirit moves in our hearts to return and be redeemed and restored as the nation You’ve called us to be (Matthew 25:31-46). Fire and Glory - God’s “Spiritual Refining Process” - November 2, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, November 2 - Fire and Glory - God’s “Spiritual Refining Process” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Align my heart with Your Heart, my thoughts with Your Thoughts, and my ways with Your Ways -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner. If you’re abused because of Christ, count yourself fortunate. It’s the Spirit of God and His glory in you that brought you to the notice of others. If they’re on you because you broke the law or disturbed the peace, that’s a different matter. But if it’s because you’re a Christian, don’t give it a second thought. Be proud of the distinguished status reflected in that name!” (1 Peter 4:12-16 The Message) Lord, help me see everything I go through on my journey through this world as Your “spiritual refining process.” These “fiery trials” are just opportunities for me grow in the character of Christ (v. 12 NKJV). They’re producing in me a “faith, being much more precious than gold” (1 Peter 1:7). So give me grace to stand up and speak up, for the sake of Christ and in the character of Christ -- even when it costs me something. In fact, especially when it costs me something. That’s the spiritual principle of fire and glory. As we go through the fire, You’re displaying Your glory through us. You’re developing the glory of Your Presence in us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Just like when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were cast into Nebuchadnezzar’s fiery furnace because they were standing up and speaking up for the Lord our God rather than bowing down to the religion of the culture of their day, it cost them something. They were willing to lay down their lives for Your sake and face the fire (Daniel 3:16-23). But You were with them in the fire! Even Nebuchadnezzar himself could see the glory of God upon them in fire and the Son of God with them in the fire! “‘Look!’ he answered, ‘I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God!” (Daniel 3:25). Their fiery trial revealed Your glory with them. Their fiery trial produced Your glory within them -- for the world and the rulers of this world to see. Even the world’s fiery trials become the instrument of Your grace to make us more like You if we keep trusting You through the fire. Fire and glory. Our fires and Your glory. Christ in us, the hope of glory. Lord, give me courage and grace for every trial I’ll face. For there will always be One with me in the fire of Your “spiritual refining process” of my journey through the fires and trials of this world. And You’ll use it all to keep making me more like You each day (Romans 8:29; 1 John 4:17). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! The Word of God is Honey to My Soul - November 1, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, November 1 - The Word of God is Honey to My Soul Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and every moment of my day. ... “The voice said to me, ‘Son of man, eat what I am giving you -- eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.’ So I opened my mouth, and He fed me the scroll. ‘Fill your stomach with this,’ He said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth” (Ezekiel 3:1-3). Lord, give me a deep hunger for Your Word and a tender sensitivity for Your voice. Give me a razor-sharp discernment for what I believe I hear You saying that comes out of a solid rock foundation of what I’ve read in Your Word. “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). So let Your Word guide my steps. Let Your Word inform my thoughts. Let Your Word be the plumbline for my standards and the foundation for my beliefs. Let Your Word be the filter for all I receive, all I perceive, and all I release. By the power of Your grace, let this be the attitude of my heart: “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your Word” (Psalm 119:1-16). “How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psalm 119:103). With Your Word hidden my heart, like honey to my soul, fill my thoughts with Your ways, guide my steps with Your light, so that the words I speak are grounded in Your Word and filled with Your heart. Led by the Pillar of Cloud and Fire of the Holy Spirit - October 27, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, October 27 - Led by the Pillar of Cloud and Fire of the Holy Spirit Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here I am, Lord. Steady me in Your Word and fill me with Your Spirit, as I walk out the steps of my day with You. ... “The Lord went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people” (Exodus 13:21-22). That pillar of cloud and pillar of fire, that led Your people under the Old Covenant speak of the Holy Spirit of the Living God who now leads Your people under the New Covenant in Christ. “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God” (Romans 8:14). The Cloud of Your Glory fills my heart, as Your Holy Spirit fills my body as Your temple. “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19). And the Fire of Your Presence consumes my heart with a burning Fire to follow You, as I seek to become more like You. “For indeed our God is a Consuming Fire” (Hebrews 12:29). When I sense the Cloud and the Fire of Your Spirit leading me out into my day, give me Your holy sensitivity to know it’s time to go. Lead my heart and guide my steps. And when I sense the Cloud and Fire of Your Spirit holding steady, give me Your holy patience to wait on You and trust in Your timing. For from the day I welcomed Your Spirit into my heart -- “the Spirit of Christ” within me (Romans 8:9) -- my body was no longer my own and my life is no longer my own, for “(I) belong to Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:23). “It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). So come, Holy Spirit -- Pillar of Cloud and Pillar of Fire, Spirit of the Living God and “Spirit of Christ” in me. Spirit, lead on. “Make me know Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day” (Psalm 25:4-5). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays My friend, may you be filled with the Spirit and led by the Spirit in the ways and paths of the Lord He has set before each day, in Jesus' name.
