Morning by Morning, November 3 - The Great Turning Begins!
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is above every name (Philippians 2:9). And I begin my day declaring the authority of Your name above everything I’ll encounter and overcome in my world in the power of Your name today. ...
“In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, saying: The Lord was very angry with your ancestors. Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts: Return to Me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds. But they did not hear or heed Me, says the Lord. Your ancestors, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your ancestors? So they repented and said, ‘The Lord of hosts has dealt with us according to our ways and deeds, just as He planned to do’” (Zechariah 1:1-6).
In the days of the prophet Zechariah, You continued to love the nation of Israel -- though scattered and divided and given over to her rebellious choices as a people to turn away from the Lord our God. But You kept sending forth Your word. You kept calling her to repent and to return. You said, “Return to Me ... and I will return to you” (v. 3).
And they did. “They repented” and returned to You (v. 6). And You returned to them, declaring, “I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion” (v. 16). When they returned to You, You returned to them and began to restore Your nation from the place of her judgment and exile (Ezra 1:1-4).
So it is with our nation. And every nation. Your heart is to restore and redeem, not to defeat and destroy. And Your heart is to move mightily in response to our hearts moving humbly in repentance and prayer, returning to You that You may return to us. Your promise of return and covenant of revival upon the condition of repentance is a true today for the nations of the earth as it was in the days of the judgment of Israel:
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
“For I am the Lord, I do not change;
Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Yet from the days of your fathers
You have gone away from My ordinances
And have not kept them.
Return to Me, and I will return to you,”
Says the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 3:6-7).
Many sense in the Spirit there is a great turning now happening in our land. There is a shifting in the heavenlies and shifting in the hearts of the people of our land. Lord, let it be so! Lord, let us return to You that You may return to us!
Lord of hosts, send the hosts of heaven, the angel armies of the Lord, across our land as Your Holy Spirit moves in our hearts to return and be redeemed and restored as the nation You’ve called us to be (Matthew 25:31-46). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
