Come to Me - February 5, 2024

Morning by Morning, February 5 - Come to Me   Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are One with the Father, One with the Holy Spirit. And You invite me to be one with You in the communion of prayer and the complete surrender of my life into the fullness of Your Life. Here I am, Lord. ... Make me one with You, one with Your Body of Christ, one in ministry to all the world, until I feast with You at Your heavenly banquet in final victory. ...   In my heart, I hear Your Spirit singing a new song over me:   Come to Me Be one in Me In the communion of prayer I’ll take You there That wherever I Am, there you will be   Yes, Lord. I do come to You. I do surrender to You in trusting faith, embracing Your Life to be expressed through my life today. As You invited Your first followers to come and trust and believe, so You continue to invite me and to all who would be drawn to You:    “Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and anyone who comes to Me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given Me, but raise it up on the last day. This is indeed the will of My Father, that all who see the Son and believe in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day... Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me” (John 6:37-45).   Thank You for loving me and singing over me (Zephaniah 3:17). Thank You for inviting me into the fullness of life I can only have as I live in communion with You--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 17:21-23). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen Be encouraged today. Choosing Well in the Choices Set Before Us - February 2, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 2 - Choosing Well in the Choices Set Before Us Good morning, Lord Jesus. My heart is open to You as I watch and wait for Your leading, for Your sheep hear Your voice and follow You (John 10:27). … As I listen for the leading of Your Holy Spirit, what’s coming to my heart are the words, “I set choices before you. Seek Me and My guidance and I will lead you in every choice you make.” … Yes, Lord. Your Word from several Scriptures comes to mind: “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction” (Deuteronomy 30:15). “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God” (Romans 8:14). “Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). I choose You. I choose to follow You and serve You. I choose to seek the leading of Your Spirit and walk in the path of “newness of life” You set before me—morning by morning, step by step, one choice at time, on my journey with You today (Romans 6:4). Just as Your Word continues to encourage Your people who are called by Your name to choose well each day: “Be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess” (Deuteronomy 5:32-33). I’m trusting You and Your Spirit to guide me in every choice set before me today, just as You promised He would: “When He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). For the sons and daughters of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in (Your) name, will teach (me) all things and remind me of everything (You) have said to (me)” (John 14:26). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. “One in the Spirit” and “One in the Lord” - February 1, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 1 - “One in the Spirit” and “One in the Lord” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I surrender all of me to all of You, as I begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. … The words of an old worship song from the earlier times of my deeper spiritual journey come to my heart this morning, “We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord.” … And now this Scripture in alignment with this song in my heart: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:3-6). Align my spirit with Your Spirit, my heart with Your Heart, my will with Your Will, my ways with Your Ways. Make me one with You in every area of my life. As I’m aligned with You, then I can be rightly aligned with the relationships in my life, as You are align their spirit with Your Spirit, their heart with Your Heart, their will with Your Will, and their ways with Your Ways. Then, by “the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace,” we will be one with You and one with one another.  Then, You can send us out as one in the Spirit and one in the Lord into our world as “Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20)—rightly representing Your character in our hearts and moving in Your authority in our actions. By the power of Your grace at work within us, as one with You and one with one another, we will fulfill Your great vision for our lives: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. I have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be one as We are one—I in them and You in Me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me” (John 17:20-23). Lord Jesus, let it be so in me and in every one of Your disciples, as You unite us together with You and one another each day—"one in the Spirit” and “one in the Lord.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. “Go Your Way Till the End” - January 31, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, January 31 - “Go Your Way Till the End”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, and Your words in my mouth. ...   As I wait, I hear in my heart, “Go your way.” ...   This Scripture from the life of Daniel comes to mind:   “Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, ‘My lord, what shall be the end of these things?’   “And he said, ‘Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.’ Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand....   “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days’” (Daniel 12:8-13).   Like Daniel, there’s much we don’t understand about the days we’re in or the days to come. Some things are open to us to know and some things are not. Some things will be revealed along the way and some will not be revealed “till the end.”   But every day between this day and the last day to come, we are to continue our journey, our adventure of faith, on our destination with You. And our destination is You -- to be conformed into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). As we go our way, we discover You are our way -- “the Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). Our spiritual journey and adventure of faith is to overcome, to “grow up in all things into Him who is the head” in spiritual maturity, to learn to love, to be “transformed into (Your) same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (Ephesians 4:15; 2 Corinthians 3:18). For as You are, so are we to be in our world (1 John 4:17).   As we journey “till the end,” our “end” is to be like You. As Your Word promises all who join in this daily journey, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2).   That’s our “inheritance at the end of days” as we each choose each day to “arise” and “go (our) way till the end.” Lord, let it be so in me -- this day and every day -- as best as I can and all by Your grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
