Morning by Morning, August 25, 2026 — Invocation Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up, here in heart and throughout the moments of my day. … I’m honored to lead the opening prayer for our County Commissioner’s Court later this morning. In the official agenda, it’s called the “Invocation.” An “invocation” is to literally invoke the presence of a “deity” or “higher power” or “spiritual entity” to provide guidance, help, protection, or whatever is needed or requested. I’ll be invoking You. I’ll be calling upon Your name. I’ll be leading all who are present and willing to turn our hearts to our Father, in the name of Jesus, seeking the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit of the Living God, to lead with wisdom from above, for all the decisions to be made on behalf of the people of our county. And this Word seems right to declare and to pray: “O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). May our leaders do what is right, may they love mercy, may they walk humbly with You, seeking Your wisdom, Your guidance, Your answers to every question for every need. You give Your wisdom freely and liberally to all who humble themselves to ask (James 1:8), to all who humble themselves to invoke Your name and welcome Your Presence in their midst and in their hearts. “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ My heart said to You, ‘Your face, Lord, I will seek’” (Psalm 27:8). Thank You that we have this freedom to boldly pray in the name of the one true God in the public square, in the marketplaces, at the football games, in elementary schools, and even in county courthouses across this land, according to our Constitution, the law of our land (Kennedy v. Bremerton School District; see Acts 4:18-20). According to the official national motto of our nation, “In God we trust” (see Psalm 56:4). As a county, as a community, as one nation under God, may we seek Your face and call upon Your name. May we do so for every meeting and also for every moment. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Morning by Morning, August 24, 2026— “I Am Renewing Your Heart” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and listen for Your leading. … As I wait, this is what I believe I hear in my heart: “I am renewing your heart, as you keep opening your heart to Me.” … Yes, Lord. Your words this morning remind me of Your Word to Your people long ago: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26). Only You can renew a heart. Only You can renew a right spirit. And at the same time, we have to open our heart to You. In that sense, we have to willingly choose to let Your Spirit move in our spirit to let You form Your Heart in our heart. We can say Yes, or we can say No. We can surrender, or we can resist. We can embrace You and all You have for us, or we just go right on ahead leaning on our own understanding without acknowledging You in all Your ways, satisfied with our hardened heart of stone, instead of the tender heart of flesh You want to form in us. The choice is ours. Just as You spoke to Your people through Ezekiel of the new heart You would give them, You also said through that same Prophet, the choice of was theirs: “Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 18:31). Yes, Lord, I want to “get (myself) a new heart and a new spirit.” And I can’t do it. You have to do it. And You are so willing and able to do it if I will only allow You to do it. It’s not just a one time prayer. Not just a one-time surrender. It’s every day. Every moment of every day. You set before me life or death. A tender heart or a hardened heart. An open heart or a closed heart. A heart that says I’m all Yours or a heart that says I’m just fine. Your mercies “are new every morning”—morning by morning—on my spiritual journey with You (Lamentations 3:23). Yes, I know that the moment I gave my heart to You I became “a new creation” in Christ and “all thing (became) new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This was so that I “might become the righteousness of God in (Christ)” (v. 21). But You never intended for me to stop there, to settle there. But to keep on pursuing You, keep on opening my heart to You, to keep on letting You form and shape my heart and my spirit in Your image. To “grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ” (Ephesians 4:15). So, like David, I want to have the heart in me that cries out to You, “Create in me a clean heart, O God. And renew a right spirit within me” (from Psalm 51:10). I want to be one who daily answers Your call, Your invitation, to keep opening my heart to You, as You keep renewing Your heart within me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. Morning by Morning, August 21, 2026 — “By My Spirit” Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Lord and Savior, abide in me as I abide in You, here in the communion of prayer. … “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). Thank You for Your Spirit who guides me and protects me and empowers me. Thank You for Your Spirit who draws me near to You and reminds me that You’re always near to me. Right here with me. Even right here within me. As You expressed to us through Your Apostle Paul, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). I am Yours. And You are mine. Remind me throughout the moments of my day that I belong to You, that I’m following You as You lead me Spirit to spirit, Heart to heart, Deep calling unto deep. Whatever good I’m able to do in my world today, I know it will be by You abiding in me—not by my might, nor by my power, but by Your Spirit, my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. Morning by Morning, August 20, 2026 — Calling on the Name of the Lord Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and press in to Your Presence and listen up for Your leading. … When I speak out Your name I’m calling on the name of the Lord, I’m expressing my heart and my faith in You. I’m directing my attention to the One who is greater, to the One who is God, to the One who is my All in All. And I’m remembering the promise of Your Word: “The same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” (Romans 10:12-13 NIV). By Your mercy and grace, in Your power and love, You save me from hell and You save me from myself. You save me from sickness and disease, from strongholds and spiritual attacks. You save me “to the uttermost”—“Therefore He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through (Jesus Christ), since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25). So I begin my prayer today, as I do every day, speaking out Your name, calling upon Your name. And now being excited and expectant to see how You will respond, how You will lead, how You will be my All in All, right now and all day long, For You are my Lord and You are Lord of all. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day.
