Morning by Morning, November 22 - “Fellowship of the Spirit”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be exalted in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus ...” (Philippians 2:1:5).
There’s a “fellowship of the Spirit” that only comes from having the heart and mind of Christ. We’re truly “united in spirit” only when our hearts and minds are “intent on one purpose.”
What is that “one purpose” Lord? ...
As I listen and wait for the leading of Your Spirit, what comes to my heart and into my thoughts is this: “Your purpose is to learn to love Me, to trust Me, so that You willingly, joyfully, lovingly entrust Your life to Me and My will, as you allow Me to form My nature in your nature, to make you more like Me every day. The more you see your selfishness replaced by My selflessness, the more you see your self-centered pride replaced by My self-denying humility, you will know you are becoming united with My Spirit and the fellowship of the Spirit I have for all who would embrace this heart and mind in them which was also in Christ Jesus.” ...
Yes, Father. Your written Word comes to mind: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification...” (1 Thessalonians 4:3), to be “conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” (Romans 8:29). “Anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17).
Unite me with You and with those You’re uniting in “the fellowship of the Spirit” throughout the earth in our generation. Remove the barriers, take down the walls, unite us together, open the eyes of our hearts to see You and to see You in one another (Ephesians 1:18). Let us be “as living stones (who) are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5). Whatever our calling, whatever our job, wherever we’re positioned and placed through every season of our lives, let us do all as unto the Lord, living for You and Your glory and no longer for ourselves and our own glory (Colossians 3:23).
“In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of Him who accomplishes all things according to His counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of His glory. In Him (we) also, when (we) had heard the word of truth, the gospel of (our) salvation, and had believed in Him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:11-14)
By the power of Your grace moving in our hearts in these days, may all who are “marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit” be “united in spirit” with the mind of Christ that we may truly experience “the fellowship of the Holy Spirit” as never before. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God (our Father), and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with (us) all” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
