Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as You make me more like You today (Romans 8:29). ...
As I wait and listen for Your leading this morning, what I believe I hear in my heart is this: “Press the fight!” ...
Yes, Lord. I have a sense of what You mean, but I wait some more to listen more closely. ...
And this comes to my heart, with Your words rising up in my thoughts just now:
“Press the fight in prayer. Pursue My heart and My ways according to My Word. My Word is your battle plan. My Scriptures are your surveillance; and My kingdom on earth as it is in heaven is your mission to be accomplished in My power through My people who press the fight in prayer.” ...
Yes, Lord. There’s a sense of momentum in the Spirit. There’s a sense of a second breath and the dawning of a new day. Now is not the time to look back, to second-guess, to haltingly hear or causally respond. Now is the time to “Press the fight!”
Your Word speaks of Your power begin released through our prayer, especially when we unite as one with Your Spirit and with one another. One can put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand to flight! (Deuteronomy 32:20; Joshua 23:10)
So let us pursue the values and the principles You reveal in Your Word and confirm by Your Spirit. That shows us how to pray. That shows us how to fight. That shows us the spiritual truths to exalt and the spiritual enemies to overcome.
Our battle is not against human flesh and blood, though human flesh and blood may be the vehicles and vessels given to express the values and principles that are contrary to Your Word and Your Spirit. Our battle is against “the spiritual forces of evil” operating behind them in “this present darkness,” distorting truth, confusing minds, and seeking to disrupt the establishing of the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven (Ephesians 6:12).
So Your Word commands us and commissions us to “Press the fight” for the battles at hand in every generation, including our own:
“But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life, to which you were called and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in His testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the right time -- He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords! It is He alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to Him be honor and eternal dominion!” (1 Timothy 6:11-16) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
