Morning by Morning, July 21 - Grace to Live Out the Royal Law of Love
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Good morning, Holy Spirit. Good morning, Heavenly Father. You are One and You are Holy and I choose to entrust my heart and life to be wholly Yours--from every dimension of my being to every Dimension of Your Being. ...
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NKJV).
When You walked this earth, You said, “This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).
Set this law of love in my heart, what Your Word calls “the royal law” in James 2:8:
“If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you do well.”
Fill my heart with Your grace by Your Spirit to live out this law from the inside out, from a heart that You’ve changed and filled with Your love, so that I can love--love You and love others--with all my heart.
As You said as You walked among us, to show us the heart of our Father, lived out in our lives by Your Holy Spirit:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34).
We “have love for one another” just as we have love for God. It’s all by Your grace as we willingly choose to entrust ourselves to You and Your love, allowing Your Spirit to set this law of love in our hearts. This is the love we have, the faith with have, the hope we have, just as Your Word promises:
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5).
So by the power of Your grace at work within me, moving in me and changing my heart from the inside out, set the royal law of love in my heart with all the grace I need from You to live it out this day and every day. “For from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace” (John 1:16 ESV). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
