Ambassadors of Joy - August 7, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, August 7 - Ambassadors of Joy   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, and Your words in my mouth as I begin my day entrusting my life to You. ...   “Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him...” (Mark 1:41).   Lord Jesus, You are still stretching out Your hand, still moved with the compassion of the Father Heart of God, touching hearts and changing lives. You stretch out Your hand through us, You speak Your words of Spirit and Life through us, for we are now “the body of Christ” in our world (1 Corinthians 12:27). “The Spirit of God dwells in (us)” for we “have the Spirit of Christ” (Romans 8:9). “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Our bodies are “the temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19) and Your Holy Spirit moves through us in the compassion and love of God in the name of Jesus, as we stretch out our hands and our hearts to touch our world in desperate need of an encounter with Jesus.   Throughout our ministry trip in Kenya the past weeks, You constantly stirred in my spirit to reach out my hands to men and women and children all along my path and greet them with a touch and smile. “God bless you, in Jesus’ name!” And their faces would light up, as handshakes turned into hugs and stoic faces turned into smiles. I was an ambassador of joy, a messenger of God’s love, as Your love and joy flowed out of my heart and into theirs.   Come, Holy Spirit. Now that I’m home again, let that same love and joy flow through me every day. Give me courage and boldness to keep reaching out, to keep touching, to keep being Your ambassador of the love and joy of God to the hearts and souls who desperately need Jesus right here and right now in my own community and nation. “For the love of Christ compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:14) and “now, then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
