“Be Ready for Your Mantle” - August 28, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, August 28 - “Be Ready for Your Mantle”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Thank You for Your standing invitation to begin my day here in the deep communion of prayer with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...   As I wait for Your leading, what comes to my heart is this word: “Be ready for your mantle.” ...   I know in the stories and encounters of the Scriptures that a “mantle” was like a cloak or robe or something physical in the natural realm that represented a measure of authority in the spiritual realm. And as sons and daughters of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in a way we all carry a “mantle” of the Holy Spirit to move in the authority of the Spirit in our lives as “ambassadors for Christ.” “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20).   As children of God, as disciples and ambassadors of Christ, we carry the “anointing” of the Holy Spirit upon us and abiding within us to be expressions of Your love, Your word, Your hope, even Your power in our world (1 John 2:27). In a way, we are “mantled” with Your Presence because we’re abiding in You and You’re abiding in us, just as if You were the Vine and we were Your branches, bearing fruit of Your character and Your power, expressing Your nature through our lives (John 15:5).   Your Spirit is within us; and Your mantle is upon us to display the glory of Your manifest Presence through us:   “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you!” (Romans 8:9-11)   I receive Your Spirit. I receive Your mantle of whatever You would desire to express and release through my life surrendered to Your life, with Your character of Your nature in my heart and the authority of Your power in my words and actions. Keep growing me up in spiritual maturity that I can carry the mantle You have for me with humility and faith, obedience and boldness, honoring You with my life that is hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3).   Let me “be ready for (the) mantle” because You’ve made me ready in my heart. Bring me to the place in my spiritual journey with You that I can declare in truth what the Apostle Paul declared to You:   “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). That’s the mantle I believe You want me to receive, along with every one of Your sons and daughters of God. And so I do, by the power of Your grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
