“Let Go and Take Hold” - August 25, 2025

 

Morning by Morning, August 25 - “Let Go and Take Hold”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I begin my day calling Your name and waiting for the leading of Your Spirit. ...   As I wait, what I hear in my heart is “Let go and take hold.” ...   This Scripture from Your written Word immediately comes to mind to confirm Your spoken word in my heart:   “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you” (Philippians 3:12-15).   Part of becoming “mature” in my journey of faith and growing in the character of Christ is learning how to “let go” and “take hold.” I’m taking hold of Your hand, while You’re taking hold of my heart.   Lord, give me the power of Your grace to “let go” of things that lie behind me, that try to hang on to me, to try to define me or limit me or disqualify me instead of embracing all You’ve done for me. Set me free from regrets and failures and disappointments. I can’t do anything about any of the past but entrust my past completely to You.   And Lord, give me the power of Your grace to “take hold” of all You have for me now. Your plans are Your good for me; Your will is Your best for me. Your Word You declared over Your people long ago is just as true today from Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV). I’m embracing Your heart and Your power at work within me to “take hold of that which is truly life” (1 Timothy 6:19 ESV).   By the power of Your grace, I’m letting go of the past; I’m taking hold of Your plans; I’m pressing in and moving on to the future of all You have for me. Secure in my identity as the child of God, fulfilling my destiny as a disciple of Christ, I’m letting go and taking hold of all You say I am, all You’ve shown me of who You are, and all You desire of me with Your good plans full of hope for my future.   No turning back. No holding back. Just “(pressing on) toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus!” -- day by day, step by step, morning by morning with You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
