Morning by Morning, November 1 - All the Saints in Glory Cheering Us On in Witness of Our Day Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your leading -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... Some call today “All Saints Day” when many streams of the Body of Christ remember those of the faith who have passed on to Heaven. This Scripture comes to mind: “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2). This “great cloud of witnesses” who surround us refers back to the immediately preceding verses of Hebrews Chapter 11, listing our forefathers and forerunners in the faith, who lived out their calling and destiny on earth and have now taken their place in Your Presence in the glory of Heaven (Hebrews 11:1-40). Many call it “The Hall of Faith” because they are witness, examples, and heroes of faith, whose lives inspire us to be more like You. For as You are, so are we to be in our world (1 John 4:17). It seems, in a way, they are looking on, cheering us on, that we might fulfill our calling and our destiny in You during these times allotted to us. We were chosen to be alive on the earth during these days of great fulfillment of Your Word and Your Prophecies that are all coming to pass at an accelerated, breathtaking pace. Your Word still speaks of this honor in the hearts of Your disciples: “Blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which you hear, and heard them not” (Matthew 13:16-17). “Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to (us).... To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to (us) through those who have preached the gospel to (us) by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into” (1 Peter 1:10-12). So let us not squander our blessing by not recognizing the times we’re in and the calling we have been entrusted with in our time -- to be Your witnesses in our day, holding fast to Your Truth, and standing firm in our faith. Though the days grow darker, Your Light will shine brighter--from Heaven and through us, as the Prophet Isaiah prophesied of these days long ago: “Arise, shine; For your Light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you!” (Isaiah 60:1-2) Lord, let Your Light shine in us. Let us be Your witnesses in these days that prophets and angels and saints of old longed to see -- the days in which we get to live. Give us grace to live well, to witness well, to be Your ambassadors of Your Light in our world (2 Corinthians 5:20). By the power of Your grace at work within us, may we be “children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom (we) shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that (we) may rejoice in the day of Christ that (we) have not run in vain or labored in vain” but fulfilled our destiny in Christ in our day (Philippians 2:15-16).
