Morning by Morning, October 13, 2026 — “The Lamb is the Light”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and every moment of my day. …
“But I saw no temple in (the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God), for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light” (Revelation 21:2, 22-23).
Lord Jesus—Lamb of God, Light of the World—one day, You will be the Light of New Jerusalem. And every day between this day and that day to come, You desire to shine with the Light of Your Glory in us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).
Just like the holy city will have “no need” of any other light, neither do we. You are “the Light of the world” (John 8:12). And, at the same time, with Your Spirit in our hearts, You say to us, as Your disciples and ambassadors, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). And one day, the New Jerusalem, the “holy city,” will descend from heaven, but every day between this day and that day to come, You also say, we are “a city set on a hill (that) cannot be hidden” (v. 14).
Lord, let Your Light arise and shine in me and through me and every one of Your disciples (Isaiah 60:1-3). May we “shine as lights in the world” with Your Light in our hearts (Philippians 2:15). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
