Morning by Morning, October 8, 2026 — “Gird Up Your Loins” and “Get Ready!”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my day. …
“In a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind; there was a heavy rain. Ahab rode off and went to Jezreel. But the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; he girded up his loins and ran in front of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel” (1 Kings 18:45-46).
Elijah “girded up his loins” and “ran.” I hear in my heart that these are days Your Spirit is calling us to gird up our loins:
“Gird up your loins, sons and daughters of God! Get ready! Ready to run with the vision I’m putting in your hearts. Ready to run with My Word in the power of My Spirit!” …
Yes, Lord. In the days of Elijah, men had to gather up their robes and tuck them into their belts to be ready to run, instead of idly sitting back.
Let us gather up and put away everything in our hearts, everything in our lives that would slow us down or trip us up. Let us “run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2). In “the spirit and power of Elijah,” You are awakening Your people to carry Your Word and Your Spirit into the lives of those around us, sharing the hope that is within us to turn hearts to You (Luke 1:17). In the Spirit of Elijah, we will “mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
“Awake, sleeper, Rise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you!” (Ephesians 5:14)
Come, Holy Spirit! You’re awakening us. You’re calling us to gird up our loins and get ready to run! These are exciting days ahead, as we move in the spirit and power of Elijah You are pouring out upon Your people in preparation for the great “day of the Lord” to come (Malachi 4:5-6).
People, get ready! Make way for the King! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
