“Prepare Him Room” and Sing for Joy! - December 23, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, December 23, 2022 - “Prepare Him Room” and Sing for Joy!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...   As I begin my prayer, I hear in my heart, “Prepare Him room.” ...   And of course, the Christmas song I’ve heard since a child -- in Church, at home, on the radio, on tv, in department stores, even at school in those days -- Joy to the World, comes immediately to mind. “Let every heart prepare Him room. And Heaven and nature sing!”   That’s my desire. And You’re the One who puts that desire in my heart, because that’s Your desire for me -- that I would prepare You room in my heart, that the joy of Your Presence would fill my heart, that I would even sing with joy along with all Heaven and nature that “The Lord is come!”   “In Your Presence is fullness of joy!” (Psalm 16:11)   “Behold, My servants shall sing for joy!” (Isaiah 65:14)   “O, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously and govern the nations on earth” (Psalm 67:4).   O come rule the world and rule in my heart. O come let us adore You. O come let us make room for You -- here in our hearts, here in our homes, here in our churches and department stores and schools and school board meetings and city council meetings and every area of our lives. When we make room for You, when “the Lord is come” in us, then we carry You wherever we go -- releasing Your joy to the world wherever we go! “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Christ in us, the “fullness of joy!” (Psalm 16:11) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! “Ponder” and Proclaim Our Encounters in the Presence of God - December 22, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, December 22 - “Ponder” and Proclaim Our Encounters in the Presence of God Good morning, Lord Jesus. Son of God, Son of Man, Savior of All, I give You all of my heart and all that I am because You’ve given all that You are for me. ...  “So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.’ And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.’ Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them” (Luke 2:15-20) Mary pondered all these things in her heart, and the shepherds proclaimed all these things from their hearts. And all their lives were forever changed by all these things from their encounter in the Presence of God. “When they had seen Him,” the shepherds became the first evangelists, as “they made widely known” all they had seen and heard (v. 17). They pondered these things in their hearts, but also proclaimed these things with their lives. When we draw near to You, when we come to know You, when we have our encounters with You, we ponder our experiences in our hearts, but are also moved to share our experiences with others. We want to make You “widely known” because You are the God who knows us and draws us near to know You. Then those who hear this Good News of our good God who knows us and makes Himself known to us marvel at all these things and are drawn to come to know You too and encounter You too for themselves. Then they ponder their experiences in their hearts and are moved to proclaim all they experienced with others. And then You and Your glory, the Good News of Your mercy and love, Your goodness and grace, Your “peace and goodwill toward men” is made even more “widely known” until it reaches all the earth (v. 14). That’s how “The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14; Isaiah 11:9). “This Good News of the Kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come!” (Matthew 24:11) So like those shepherds whose lives were forever changed by an encounter with You, those first evangelists, may we each ponder and proclaim all we’ve experienced through all our own encounters throughout all our world. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, December 21 - “Fall on Your Knees. O Hear the Angel Voices!”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my heart with Your Spirit and my mind with Your thoughts, as I seek to begin my day fully surrendered to You. ...   “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’   “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:   ‘Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’ (Luke 2:8-14)   One quiet evening out in the fields, the night sky suddenly erupted with the light of the glory of the Lord! Trembling at the sight, the shepherds fell to their knees, as they heard the angel voices. They went “with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger” (v. 16).   As we sing to this day, “O night! O night divine! O night when Christ was born!   In the fields of our hearts, even in the dark nights of our souls or whatever season we’re going through in our lives, let the light of Your glory come bursting into our spirits. Let us fall on our knees in worship. Let us hear Your heavenly voices in prayer. Let us know You see us and You are with us, that every day and every night is divine with the Presence of God through our ever-present Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Mary was “with Child” and So are We - December 20, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, December 20 - Mary was “with Child” and So are We   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Light of the World, You came down into darkness, into our world and into my heart, to shine with the Light of the Love of God in all who would open their hearts to You -- just as I do now to begin my day in communion with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...   “Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with Child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn” (Luke 2:4-7).   Mary was “with Child.” And now by the grace and mercy and love of God, so are we. God with us. Immanuel. The Child of God who is the Son of God, who is One with God and now is One with us, in this mystery of faith and amazing grace (Matthew 1:21).   Mary was “with Child” and You are with us -- not just for nine months of labor, but for a lifetime of love, for an eternity of Your Presence. As You said, “Behold, I AM with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). You never leave us and never forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).   That was King Solomon’s prayer when he dedicated the temple to You -- “The Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers; let Him not leave us, nor forsake us.... That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none other” (1 Kings 8:57). And now our bodies are Your temple and our hearts are Your manger (1 Corinthians 6:19). We are with God and God is with us.   We are “with Child” because this Child of God is the Son of God who came into our world to bring us into Yours, as children of God (Romans 8:16). “For as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” -- in the name of this Child of God, the Son of God, the God who is with us, the God who never leaves us nor forsakes us, Christ the Lord, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (John 1:12). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! In the love of Jesus, Tommy Hays   Friends, may you know your body is God's temple and Your heart is His manger, filled with the love and Presence of God, overflowing out of you because Christ is always with you, in Jesus' name. O Come Let Us Adore Him - December 19, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, December 19 - O Come Let Us Adore Him   Good morning, Lord Jesus. O come let us adore You, Christ the Lord. ...   “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand” (Psalm 95:6-7).   You are Immanuel -- God with us, just as the Old Testament prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 was fulfilled in You in the New Testament revelation of Matthew 1:21, “Behold, the virgin shall be with Child and bear a Son, and they shall call him Immanuel, which means God with us.”   You are with us -- the Lord our Maker, our God and Shepherd. You are the One in whom “all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). You are the One “who being the brightness of (God’s) glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power” chose to humble Yourself to come live and move and have Your being among us in human form that we could better understand the nature and heart of our God who longs to be with us (Hebrews 1:3; Philippians 2:5-11). You are the Word made Flesh -- the Word of God revealed in human flesh and blood as the Son of God, the Son of Man, so we could know You and trust You and surrender our lives to You (John 1:1-14).   So we come and worship You. We bow down before You and open up our hearts to You. The One the shepherds came to see and adore as a Baby in a manger is the One we come to see and adore as our Good Shepherd and Eternal Savior (Luke 1:12; John 10:11). “For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture” (Psalm 95:7). And at the same time, You are the Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world (John 1:29). To You “be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13).   With all of Heaven, we worship and bow down, we come and adore You -- not just on Christmas morning, but on every morning and in every moment. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
