Season of Preparation 12-9-08

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Come live in me today. … "But the angel said to him, 'Do not be afraid Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard. You wife Elizabeth will bear you a son and you will name him John…. He will turn many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. With the spirit and power of Elijah he will go before Him, to turn the hearts of parents to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord' " (Luke 1:13-17). Before the angel appeared to Mary and Joseph, the angel appeared to Zechariah. Before the coming of the Messiah came the one with the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way for His coming. And just as You prepared Your people for Your first coming, so You are preparing Your people for Your second coming. Christmas season speaks of this season of preparation -- a season "to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." And how do we prepare? We turn our hearts to You and to one another, from disobedience to righteousness, from looking inward to ourselves to looking forward to You. And one day soon, You will come in glory in the skies. But every day before then, You want to come in glory in our hearts. Let us know by faith Your angels are here among us, helping prepare Your servants and proclaiming Your coming. Let us turn our hearts to You and one another. Let us be a people prepared for coming of the Lord our God. "Righteousness will go before Him, and will make a path for His steps" (Psalm 85:13).
