Global Prayer, Global Pentecost 5-31-09

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my eyes and open up my heart and enter into the holy place of prayer with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ... "When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came the sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability" (Acts 2:1-4). Today is the day of Pentecost. Lord, let it be a day of personal Pentecost for me and global Pentecost for all the earth. "O that You would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at Your presence -- as when fire kindles brushwood and fire causes water to boil -- to make Your name known to Your adversaries, so that the nations might tremble at Your presence! When You did awesome deeds that we did not expect, You came down, the mountains quacked at Your presence" (Isaiah 64:1-3). Lord, let this day be as that day. Do Your awesome deeds, display Your awesome power. Let Your fire fall, let Your wind blow, tear open the heavens, break open the earth. Let Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). Let the glory of Your presence fill our hearts with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your tongues of fire rest upon us as we speak out Your praises and call on Your name from every tribe and tongue and nation throughout all the earth. This day is also set apart as a Global Day of Prayer, and for the first time in history, people from every nation on the face of the earth are joining together in the unity of prayer for Your Holy Spirit to come and fill the earth on this day of Pentecost. As on that first Pentecost, we are "all together in one place" -- the place of prayer, in a worldwide gathering of our hearts together as one body in the unity of one Spirit. Lord, hear our prayer. Come and do Your awesome deeds we do not expect, exceedingly "abundantly far more than we could ever ask or imagine" as Your people throughout Your earth are "filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19-20).
