Morning by Morning, March 31 - The Truth about Noah

Good morning, Lord Jesus. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I yield my spirit to Your Spirit. Make me more like You today.  ...

"They exchanged the truth about God for a lie" (Romans 1:25).

I'm still mad when I think about the end of the movie I saw last night and it's perverted portrayal of my God and Creator. In the Hollywood, Russell Crowe perversion, it showed Noah praying and hearing from "God" that he was to murder his own twin grand-daughters, as they were held in their mother's arms, just after birth from her womb. Yet "Noah" decides to reject and defy this command of "God" so he can do the right thing by his own conscience and let them live, refusing to obey this cruel "Creator." Already, I didn't like the movie, but that's when I had to leave. It felt defiling and blasphemous to me.

According to the Word of God, "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; and Noah walked with God" even when "the earth was filled with violence" (Genesis 6:9-11). Noah was to build the ark for himself and all his family, along with two pairs of all the animals for a new beginning through the salvation of God after the great flood (Genesis 7:1-5). The heart of God and the heart of Noah revealed in the Word of God are far from the lies exchanged for the truth about God in this defiling perversion of the truth.

"Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, and not rather that they should turn from their ways and live?... For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Turn, then, and live" (Ezekiel 18:23-32).

Lord God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, You are "patient with (us), not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). You're still sending Your message of hope and peace through the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ for all who would turn to You and call on Your name to find salvation in the ark of Your Presence alone (John 3:16). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 27 - Come Down to Deliver Us

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Heavenly Father, embrace me. Holy Fire, consume me.  ...

"Then the Lord said, 'I have observed the misery of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey...' " (Exodus 3:7-8).

You are the God who comes down to deliver us. Though You dwell high in the heavens, You also dwell here in our hearts. You hear our cries because You're with us in our suffering. You see our struggles because You go before us into our battles. You feel our pain because You've already taken onto Yourself all our sins and shame, all our rejection and regret, all our misery and mistrust, all our fears and failures, all our sicknesses and strongholds, and everything else that's anything less that who You created us to be (Isaiah 53:4-6, fulfilled in Matthew 8:17).

You are a God of truth, revealing Your truth in Your Word and leading us into Your truth in our hearts. But You are also a God of power. You come down to deliver us, to manifest Your Presence in Your power. You want us to know both Your Word and Your power (Matthew 22:29). And by the grace of God in the mystery of faith, Your power is at work within each one of us who cry out to You and call on Your name (Romans 8:11).

Lord God, come down and deliver me today into the fullness of the kingdom of God. Let me know Your Word and experience Your power. Let nothing hold me back; let nothing shut me down; let nothing steal from me any of what You have in Your heart to accomplish in and through my life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 26 - Taking Time to Turn Aside and See God

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my eyes and open up my heart to speak out Your name and welcome Your Spirit into every moment of my day.  ...

"Moses ... came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet was not consumed. Then Moses said, 'I just turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.' When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, 'Moses, Moses!' And he said, "Here I am" (Exodus 3:1-4).

It was when Moses "turned aside to see" that You called out his name and spoke to his heart. And though he would soon experience the fear of the Lord, his first response to the Presence of God from the depths of his spirit was not, "I'm out of here" but "Here I am" (v. 6).

You look for a people who will look to You; You long for a people who long for You. You promise us, "When you search for Me, you fill find Me; if you seek Me with all your heart, I will let you find Me" (Jeremiah 29:13-14).

Lord, You are "a consuming Fire" (Hebrews 12:29). Let the Fire of Your Spirit burn in me. Awaken within me a consuming passion for Your Presence. Open the eyes of my heart to see You; open the ears of my spirit to hear You. Make me more spiritually hungry and spiritually sensitive to take the time to turn aside and see who You are and what You're doing all around me today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 25 - "One Spirit"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Draw me close to You. Let me sense Your heartbeat and hear Your voice in the intimacy of communion in prayer -- Spirit to spirit, Deep to deep -- in these first moments of my morning with You.  ...

"But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.... Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body" (1 Corinthians 6:17).

In the mystery of faith, I'm now "one spirit" with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I am Yours and You are mine. I abide in You and You abide in me. My body is Your temple; my heart is Your home; my life is Your life.

Lord, help me understand and embrace all that that means. Help me "live (my) life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ ... standing firm in one spirit ... with one mind for the faith of the gospel" (Philippians 1:27). May "the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with (me and) with all of (those who are called by Your name, seeking Your face, and embracing Your Spirit)" (2 Corinthians 13:13). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 20 - A Pure Heart at Peace with God

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill me with Your Spirit and lead me in Your ways today.  ...

"Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before Him whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything. Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; and we receive from Him whatever we ask, because we obey His commandments and do what pleases Him" (1 John 3:18-22).

Empower me to do what pleases You today, Lord. Stir in my heart with Your love -- love for You, love for Your people, love for Your word and Your truth and Your ways. Be at work in me by Your Spirit within me to will what is right and to do what is right (Philippians 2:13). Then my heart will be pure and at peace, embraced by Your Presence and the tender mercies of Your steadfast love.

Your love for me never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). Your mercies for me never come to an end. Great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 19 - "Filled with the Knowledge of God's Will"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be Thou my vision, O Lord my God.  ...

"For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from His glorious power..." (Colossians 1:9-11).

Fill me with the knowledge of Your will, Lord. I need the wisdom and understanding that comes from Your Holy Spirit. I need the strength that comes from Your glorious power, leaning not on my own understanding, but trusting You to direct my paths in the way that's fully pleasing to You (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Let Your will be the desire of my heart. Draw my heart closer to Your heart; draw my spirit into deeper communion with Your Spirit, so I can better know Your heart, hear Your voice, and sense Your leading, saying, "This is the way; walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21). Then, and only then, will the decisions I make and the labors of my life bear good and lasting fruit, worthy of the Lord. "Not my will, but Your will be done" (Luke 22:42). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 18 - Faith that Conquers the World

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lead me in the way that leads to life today.  ...

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God.... For whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" (1 John 5:1-5)

My faith in You empowers me to conquer the world. If I could fully trust You and fully entrust myself to You, there's nothing in this world that could hold me back or shut me down. Instead I would be part of Your movement to change the world with all who believe. I would be like Your first fiery disciples who were "turning the world upside down" (Acts 17:6).

Come, Holy Spirit. Help me trust Jesus more and more every day (John 16:14). Help me believe, and help my unbelief. Cause my faith to arise with a fiery and fearless passion to follow Jesus to the ends of the earth and turn this world upside down. In Jesus' name I pray.

Morning by Morning, March 17 - Words of Spirit and Life

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Speak to my spirit Your words of spirit and life. ...

"It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.... Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that You are the Holy One of God'" (John 6:63-69).

Lord Jesus, You are the Holy One of God. You are the Word of God, made Flesh, then crucified, buried, raised from the dead, and ascended into heaven. Now You have poured out Your Holy Spirit upon our flesh that we might live our lives by the guidance and power of Your Spirit abiding in us every day.

As I wait on You to guide me and empower me with Your Spirit today, what are the words of spirit and life You would speak into my spirit this morning? ...

It seems I hear You say, "I Am your Father and your Friend, your Savior and your Lord. You are My son, a holy one of God by the blood of the Lamb of God. I give you My Spirit to express My words of spirit and life through you today."

Yes, Lord. I am Your child, a son of God (John 1:12). By the cleansing of Your blood and the mercy of Your grace, I am a holy one of God (1 John 1:9). Thank You for filling my heart with Your Spirit and my mouth with Your words. "By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent His Son as the Savior of the world. God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God" (1 John 4:13-15).

As best as I can and all by Your grace, may the life I live in my flesh today be lived fully in the faith of the Son of the God living through me (Galatians 2:20). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 14 - Sent to the Harvest

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here I am, Lord. I'm available for You today. Where You lead me, I will follow; where You send me, I will go -- as best as I can and all by Your grace.  ...

"Then Jesus called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.... After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of Him in pairs to every town and place where He himself intended to go. He said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go on your way...'"  (Luke 9:1-10:3).

The kingdom of God is within me, because the King of the kingdom of God is within me. And everywhere You send me, I carry the message and power of Your kingdom with me.

In these first moments of my morning, You draw me close into the intimacy of Your Presence, You fill me afresh with the fullness of Your Spirit, and You go before me to order the steps of my day. Then You send me out with those You've aligned to come alongside me in a labor of love into the fields of Your harvest, speaking Your words of life and ministering the power of Your love, to heal the wounded and free the captives in the authority of Your name.

Lord, I do pray, as You commanded, that You would raise up more laborers to send into Your harvest. Call them, equip them, empower them. Conform them into the image of the Son of God, that they can go forth in the power of Your Spirit, with the authority of Your name on their lips and the hunger for Your nature in their hearts. And let me be one of them.

Lord, don't leave me out or leave me behind. Let me be up in the middle of all You're doing in my generation to prepare the way of the Lord in the earth and in the hearts of Your people. This is my time to shine with the light of the glory of God to the ends of the earth (Isaiah 60:1; Matthew 28:18-20). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 13 - Empowered to Overcome

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Speak into my heart; lead me in the way that leads to Life. You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. ...

"He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels" (Revelation 3:5 NKJV).

You've called me and equipped me and empowered me to overcome. By the power of the grace of God at work within me to will what is right and to do what is right, I am an overcomer. I'm in personal, powerful, passionate relationship with the One who has overcome the world, and so can I by the grace of God. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

You are my "white garments." You are my "robe of righteousness" (Isaiah 61:10). Because I abide in You and You abide in me by the Spirit of Christ within me, I am clothed with Christ (Galatians 3:27). In Christ, my name is in Your Book; and in Your Book it says I am one who is empowered to overcome. Thank You, Jesus. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 12 - Days of Noah, Favor of God

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my face and my heart to worship You and welcome You into every moment of my day, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  ...

"The Lord saw that the wickedness of humankind was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made humankind on the earth, and it grieved Him to His heart.... But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord" (Genesis 6:2).

You reveal in Your Word, "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man" (Luke 17:23). But even as wickedness and darkness may increase to cover the face of the earth, You will always have a people who find Your favor and carry Your light to display Your glory:  "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and His glory will appear over you. Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn" (Isaiah 60:1-3).

Noah was courageous in the face of the culture of his days. And Noah was obedient as he sought the face of his God. By the grace of God, he endured the darkness the covered the earth with a hope that was set on You. Then You blessed him and his family with Your favor, anointing them and commanding them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth," as You entrusted authority and dominion to their hands (Genesis 9:1-3).

These are the days of the Son of Man, with both good and evil growing up into full maturity for the harvest of souls to come at the end of the age (Matthew 13:36-43). And You still seek a people who will seek Your face to have Your heart to display Your glory with the light of Your Gospel. You still bless and anoint those who, like Noah, have found favor in Your sight because they have found You.

Like Noah, give us courage to overcome our world and wisdom to obey our Creator. With the authority we have in Christ, let us be fruitful and multiply, as we grow in maturity and make disciples of Christ to the ends of the earth. As Your light shines through us and Your glory arises upon us, "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 11 - Overcome the World

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords. Be King and Lord of my life today.  ...

"They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with Him are called and chosen and faithful" (Revelation 17:14).

Every day the world is at war with our faith. The wisdom of the world is at war with the wisdom of heaven; the ways of the world are at war with the ways of heaven. But we should not be surprised, as if something strange were happening. You said from the beginning, "In Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33 NKJV).

You have overcome the world. You are the King of the kingdom of God and "(Your) kingdom not is of this world" (John 18:36). And now through faith in You, Your kingdom is within me (Luke 17:21). Because You have overcome, I can overcome, for You are in me and I am in You (John 15:5). In relationship with You and by the Presence and power of Your Spirit at work within me, I am one of Your "called and chosen and faithful."

You've not called me out of this world, but to overcome this world--all by the power of the grace of God at work within me (John 17:14-19). Empower me to overcome the wisdom and ways, the temptations and trials, of the world around me today. Let Your kingdom come, Your will be done, here in my heart in the midst of my world today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 10 - Tender Heart, Humble Mind

Good morning, Lord Jesus. As I begin my day, I deliberately choose to begin it with You -- embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Spirit.  ...

"Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing" (1 Peter 3:8-9).

By the power of Your mercy and grace at work within me, make my heart more tender and make my mind more humble. Increase my desire and capacity for unity, sympathy, and love. Empower me to pray for those who persecute me, bless those who curse me, and love those who hate me (Matthew 5:44).

Help me have Your heart and mind; make more like You each day (Philippians 2:5). I confess I have far to go, but I do believe it is my heart for You to take me there. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Morning by Morning, March 6 - Steady Steps

Good morning, Lord Jesus. As I journal my prayers, I open my heart and focus my thoughts on You alone in these first moments of my morning to set the course for my day. ...

"He will guard the feet of His faithful ones ..." (1 Samuel 2:8).

Guard my feet and guide my steps. "Keep my steps steady according to Your promise, and never let iniquity have dominion over me" (Psalm 119:133). Lead me in the paths of Your righteousness.

Lord, I need You to put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart. I need you to continually give me the desire and the power to "follow in (Your) steps" (1 Peter 2:21). By Your Spirit leading my spirit, help me choose each day and throughout the moments of my day to "walk in the way of the good, and keep to the paths of the just" -- as best as I can and all by Your grace (Proverbs 2:20). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Healing Service with Max Lucado & Tommy Hays Tonight in San Antonio

Please join us if you can or join us by prayer or by Live-Stream if you can't tonight for our Healing Prayer Service at 7PM Central Standard Time at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas

I'm excited to be joining Max Lucado at the Crownridge Campus of Oak Hills Church on I-10 in San Antonio to share a message on hope and healing. Our Rapha God Ministries Prayer Team will be joining the Oak Hills Prayer Team and Elders to pray personally for everyone at the altar. We'll also have Spanish-speaking prayer teams.

May the name of Jesus be high and lifted up as we encounter the healing love of God in spirit, soul, and body. May you also experience the Lord's power and Presence in your church and community. Thank you for your prayers!
