Living Waters Bursting Through the Dam! - Morning by Morning May 26, 2020

Morning by Morning May 26 - Living Waters Bursting Through the Dam!

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin this day and every day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled afresh with Your Holy Spirit. ...

"The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad,
the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
the majesty of our God!

Strengthen the weak hands,
and make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are of a fearful heart,
'Be strong, do not fear!
Here is your God!
He will come with vengeance,
with terrible recompense.
He will come and save you!

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf unstopped;
then the lame shall leap like a deer,
and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy
For waters shall break forth in the wilderness,
and streams in the desert!" (Isaiah 35:1-6)

I'm part of a little prayer group that meets every Sunday night to pray for revival in our city, in our land, and in the body and bride of Christ throughout the earth in our days. (We normally meet in the "prayer tower" at church, but have been meeting by Zoom for a while now). As one of the prayer leaders from another church in the city was praying, I had a strong vision that came to my heart as we prayed in agreement:

With the eyes of my heart, I saw a large dam, holding back mighty waters. The waters were forcefully pushing against the dam that was bending like a bow about to break. Suddenly the dam broke and the waters burst forth and poured through the dam like a rushing, mighty flood. I knew in my spirit these were Living Waters of the love and power of God that had been held back but were now bursting forth to bring life to all that it touched. (In a flash, I thought of Isaiah 35; Ezekiel 47; Revelation 22; and Acts 2).

Then the eyes of my heart "zoomed in" on the dam that was breaking. It was made out of stones that were like bricks, very uniform and "orderly." What was coming to me in my heart as I was seeking to discern this and then praying this out with our group, was that this dam holding back the Mighty Waters of God was not only the enemy and his spiritual forces of darkness, but also much of the church itself. It was the spirit and attitude that things must be "orderly" and "uniform" and "the same as it always had been" to keep things "under control" without getting "too wild" and "out of hand." It was both "religious" and "fearful." In a sense, in a large part of the church, we were our own worst enemy, being used by our enemy to hold back this mighty move of God.

I didn't sense this was necessarily any particular local church, but rather "the church" in our time. And while there's a passionate remnant that's ready to arise and see Your Spirit move in power as never before, there's also much resistance of religion, fear, uniformity, traditions of men beholden to the past that have been pushing back against all You desire -- even from a good heart with good desires to honor You and keep Your people safe.

Forgive us, Lord. On behalf of Your church and from any place in our own hearts where we've pushed back against Your Living Waters and a Great Flood of Your Holy Spirit, we repent. I repent. And together as one -- one in the Spirit, one in the Lord, throughout the earth and in our day -- we say, "Come, Holy Spirit!" "Father, have Your way!" "Lord Jesus, come bursting forth in Your glory in our hearts and in the earth!"

"The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let everyone who hears say, 'Come!' And let everyone who is thirsty come! Let anyone who wishes take the Water of Life as a Gift! ... Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!" (Revelation 22:17-20) "The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea!" (Habakkuk 2:14) In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

My friend, may you be filled afresh the Holy Spirit, and may the Living Waters of the Living God burst forth from your spirit, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
