Morning by Morning, November 30 - "Due Time"
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and the forefront of my mind, as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...
"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7).
There is a "due time." Just as You make all things new, You call all things due at just the right time in just the right way. And just as Your thoughts are not our thoughts and Your ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8), Your "due time" is not always our "due time."
No doubt the enemy of our souls can be the source of many of our delays (Daniel 10:12-14). He's a thief of Your plans and purposes for our lives who comes "to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10), "like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). But at the same time, there are times when it's not delay from our enemy but the "due time" of God we're waiting for. And it's in learning to trust and wait for the "due time" of God that we learn "it's through faith and patience we inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12).
Our God is greater than our enemy, greater than any other, even greater our than our perceived need for results to be produced in our time and in our way. "He who is in (us) is greater than the he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). There's no greater name than Your name (Acts 4:12). And at Your name everything less must bow and confess that You are Lord (Philippians 2:9-11). But there is a "due time" for all things to be done according to Your plan.
So give us grace to patiently wait on Your "due time." In the meantime, You're exposing what needs to be exposed and bringing to light what needs to come to light. You're at work in ways we don't always see and working things together for good in ways we can find hard to believe (Romans 8:28).
We're tempted to say, "Surly, Lord, it's about due time!" But by the power of Your grace at work in us and in our world, may we choose to trust You and say, "Yes, Lord. I trust You and Your time." And in "due time" it will be Your perfect time, at just the right time. For You're the God who makes all things beautiful in Your time (Ecclesiastes 3:11) -- in Your "due time." In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
My friend, may you be empowered with God's grace and patience to wait upon His "due time" for all that He's put in your heart to be fulfilled according to His plan, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. And I join with you and so many in prayer for our nation through this challenging time. God bless you, my friend!
