Morning by Morning, March 3 - Overcoming Our Sufferings, Developing Our Character
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the Center of my heart, here at the beginning of my day. ...
“Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” (Romans 5:1-5).
Whether our cities are bombarded by a tyrant or our souls are bombarded by Satan, You don’t waste a moment of our sufferings. Though You don’t will evil and You don’t will sin, You will use it all to shape us into the character of Christ. For “suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character.”
And it’s the character of Christ in our hearts that leads us to put all our hope and trust in You, our Father. As we open our hearts to You, You pour Your Holy Spirit into our hearts to continue shaping our character into the character of Christ. For that is Your goal and that is our prize -- to be conformed into the image of the Son of God -- not just through the blessings, but also through the sufferings. Through whatever sufferings we endure and whatever challenges we overcome on our journey through this broken and fallen world, full of broken and fallen people, You are making us more like You every day (Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 John 4:17; 2 Peter 1:4).
There are many blessings to the one “who overcomes” by the power of Your grace at work within us (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26, 3:5, 12, 21). “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:5). For Your Word declares this promise and prize for all who overcome: “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he will be My son” (Revelation 21:7).
Lord, let it be so in me and all who are honored to be chosen to be alive and overcome through these days. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

My friend, may you be moved in your heart to keep lifting up your face to pursue the presence of the Lord, looking to Jesus, as He keeps changing you into His image from glory to glory, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
