Morning by Morning, May 2 - “Only Believe”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin my day grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. ...
“While He was still speaking, someone came from the leader’s house to say, ‘Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any longer.’ When Jesus heard this, He replied, ‘Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved’” (Luke 8:49-50).
To believe in You is to battle fear. To trust in You is to overcome trouble.
Believing in You, trusting in You is not ignoring the facts or denying reality. But it’s an attitude of the heart, a perspective of the spirit, that says Your word is greater than anything I’m facing in my world.
The leader’s daughter really was dead. The bills really are due. The relationship really is broken. The nation really is in crisis.
Faith doesn’t ignore the facts; faith seeks Your face. Faith doesn’t pretend there are no problems; faith prays the Promises.
Faith believes that our God is greater than anything we’re going through. Faith trusts in the One who knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end. When the world, the flesh, and the devil want to have the last word, faith says, “I will not fear. I will only believe. I will look and see the salvation of the Lord!”
“For with God nothing shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37). As You said long ago, You still speak today, “If you can believe, all thing are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23 NKJV). So give me the grace, give me Your faith to “only believe.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
