Morning by Morning, May 17 - Restoring the Hearts of the Children
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lead me today, Lord -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
I know You are healing and restoring hearts in the earth today. You “heal the brokenhearted” (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18). You are “near to the brokenhearted” and save “the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18) as You “bind up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).
“Whenever our hearts condemn us,” You speak Your truth to our hearts to “reassure our hearts” that You love us and You are for us and You want the best for us (1 John 3:19). You remind us that our “God is greater than our hearts” and restore us to the “boldness” and intimacy of Your embrace in Your Presence You long for us to have with You (v. 20-21).
Lately, I’ve been sensing and seeing a deep expression of Your love toward the hearts of the children of Your people. In our ministry of inner healing prayer -- what I call “healing from the inside out” -- there has been an increase and steady stream of parents coming with their sons and their daughters for prayer, seeking Your healing of the brokenhearted and saving the crushed in spirit.
Parents have always been concerned about their children, but at the same time, there seems to be some kind of increase in the cry for healing and freedom of the children of the next generation. I’m reminded of Your Word for the end of the age, from the last chapter of the last book of the Old Testament:
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
And he will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse” (Malachi 4:5-6 NKJV).
Your heart is to bless and not curse. Your heart is to heal and not break. Your heart is to turn hearts toward You and not away from You, toward one another and not away from one another.
So You are restoring hearts. The Holy Spirit is preparing the way of the Lord in the hearts of the people of God -- the hearts of “children to their fathers” and the hearts of the children of God to our Father God. You are breaking the curses and bringing forth the blessings. You are setting relationships right as You set hearts right and set hearts free, positioning us to receive our Father’s blessing and favor. You are fulfilling the high priestly blessing spoken in prophecy long ago, spoken to us and to our children and their children and their children and their children:
“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: ‘Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
‘The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.’
“So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.” (Numbers 6:22-27 NKJV).
Thank You for this blessing. Thank You for restoring hearts -- for our hearts and for the hearts of our children and their children and their children and their children. Amen. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
