Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look up to You and listen up for the leading of Your Spirit -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. Your sheep hear Your voice (John 10:3) and the sons and daughters of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). ...
As I’m waiting, I hear in my heart:
“Be faithful to Me. Be steadfast in My Word. Be sensitive to My Spirit. Do not compromise with culture. Do not waiver with the opinions of the public. My Word is your Plumb Line and My Spirit is your Compass. Hold fast to Me. Follow Me. And You will stand firm in the shakings to come. You will see the salvation of the Lord.” ...
Yes, Lord. ...
Your Plumb Line is Your standard for righteousness, for truth, for justice, for mercy, for all the expressions of Your will and Your ways in our world. In building a house, a plumb line keeps things straight to bring order and alignment to the builder’s plans.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1).
Your Compass is Your Holy Spirit, guiding us step by step on our journey through a broken and fallen world, where we seek to walk in Your steps.
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21).
In all the cultural issues of our day, in all the wavering of public opinion, we need Your Plumb Line and we need Your Compass. Then we will not be shaken. Then we will not lose our way.
“See that you do not refuse the One who is speaking; for if they did not escape when they refused the One who warned them on earth, how much less will we escape if we reject the One who warns from heaven! At that time His voice shook the earth; but now He has promised, ‘Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heaven.’ This phrase, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of what is shaken--that is, created things--so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe; for indeed our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:25-29).
Lord, let Your kingdom be established in us--the kingdom that cannot be shaken--as we seek to embrace these gifts of Your Plumb Line and Your Compass to keep us straight and keep us on track to fulfill our destiny in You according to Your “plan for the fullness of time” (Ephesians 1:10). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
