Morning by Morning, December 16 - With a Heart Like Mary Good morning, Lord Jesus. Abide in me, as I abide in You, to begin my day in communion with You (John 15:4). ... “And Mary said: ‘My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior!’” (Luke 1:46-47). Mary carried Jesus in her womb. And we carry Jesus in our hearts. We abide in Christ and Christ abides in us (John 15:4). The same Holy Spirit of God that came upon Mary overshadowed Mary now comes upon us and overflows from within us to exalt the Lord and praise our Savior (Luke 1:35). Like Mary’s womb, our bodies are now temples of Your Spirit: “Or do (we) not know that (our) body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in (us), whom (we) have from God, and (we) are not (our) own? For (we) were bought at a price; therefore (we) glorify God in (our) body and in (our) spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). And as we glorify You and exalt You and rejoice in You, You are making us one with You, abiding with You, growing deep in more intimate communion with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: “He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all!” (2 Corinthians 3:14) With a heart like Mary, filled with the grace and love and communion of God, may I begin my day and live out the moments of my day with my soul exalting You and my spirit rejoicing in You -- O Lord, my God, my Savior! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
