Morning by Morning, December 15 - Words of Joy!
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear Your heart and fill me with Your Spirit so I can in Your ways throughout my day. ...
“Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord!” (Luke 1:39-45)
Elizabeth’s heart was filled with the Holy Spirit and Mary’s womb was filled with Jesus. Elizabeth’s words were full of blessings and Mary’s words were full of joy, for as soon as she spoke the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leaped for joy!
Lord, fill my heart with the Holy Spirit. Fill my life with Jesus. Let my words be filled with blessings and with joy.
Our words are powerful. In them we speak with the power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21), the power of blessing or cursing (James 3:10), the power of building up or tearing down (Jeremiah 1:10). And our words are an expression of what’s in our hearts (Matthew 15:18).
So I want my heart to be filled with You. And I want my words to be anointed with Your Holy Spirit. Even let babies leap for joy in their mother’s wombs because You're filling my mind with Your thoughts, my heart with Your desires, and my words with Your Spirit.
And why not? After all, Your Word declares of each of us who have given our hearts to You this eternal truth and mystery of faith of the communion of Your Spirit with our spirits and Your Heart with our hearts:
“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:9-11).
Your Spirit gives life to us. And Your Spirit speaks life through us. Your words “are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:33). And when You speak Your words through us by Your Spirit filling us and flowing through us, they bring spirit and life to everything around us. Your love, Your peace, Your joy -- even the joy that makes babies jump in their mother’s wombs -- is released in power through us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory!” (Colossians 1:27). “In Your Presence is fullness of joy!” (Psalm 16:11)
So fill my heart and my life and my words with Your Spirit, Your love, Your peace, and Your joy this day and every day! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the love of Jesus, Tommy Hays My friend, may your words be full of joy and your heart full of the Holy Spirit this day and every day, in Jesus' name. God bless you!
