“Here is My Servant, whom I uphold,
My Chosen, in whom My soul delights;
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the nations.
He will not cry or lift up His voice,
or make it heard in the street;
a bruised reed He will not break,
and a dimly burning wick He will not quench;
He will faithfully bring forth justice.
He will not grow faint or be crushed
until He has established justice in the earth;
and the coastlands wait for His teaching.
Thus says God, the Lord,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
Who gives breath to the people upon it
and spirit to those who walk in it:
I am the Lord, I have called You in righteousness,
I have taken You by the hand and kept You;
I have given You as a covenant to the people,
a light to the nations,
to open the eyes that are blind,
to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
from the prison those who sit in darkness.
I am the Lord, that is My name;
My glory I give to no other,
nor My praise to idols.
See, the former things have come to pass,
and new things I now declare;
before they spring forth,
I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42:1-9).
These were prophetic Words, spoken through the prophet Isaiah about You, nearly eight hundred years before You humbled Yourself in the likeness of human flesh and blood, to live out a sinless life and self-sacrificing death for us all, as our Savior and Messiah. You are the Word of God; You are the ultimate fulfillment and pure manifestation of every Word of God, every Word of Scripture (John 1:1). And as You walked this earth as the Son of Man, in the nature of man, having willingly humbled Yourself to be “born in human likeness” (Philippians 2:5-8), “the Word became flesh and lived among us” as You became flesh and lived among us (John 1:14).
You explained to two of Your first disciples on their walk to Emmaus that You fulfill the Law and the Prophets. “Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, (You) interpreted to them the things about (Yourself) in all the Scriptures” (Luke 24:27 emphasis added). As they sat with You, spending time with You, coming to know You, “their eyes were opened” to the Truth, “their eyes were opened” to You (v. 30-31). And their hearts burned within them, as You spoke with them and “opened the Scriptures to (them)” (v. 32). Then they couldn’t wait to go and share all they learned and experienced in their encounter with You! (v. 33-35). In their excited sharing of the hope in their hearts, the faith in their spirits, and the passion of their witness, “(You came again and) stood in the midst of them” (v. 36).
My heart burns in me when I read Your Word. My heart burns in me when I share Your Word and every Word about You. My heart burns in me when I’m expressing the hope in my heart, the faith in my spirit and the passion of my witness, because the Fire of Your Spirit burns in me! Thank You, Jesus!
Thank You for Your Word, for Your fulfillment of the Word of God as the Word of God. Thank You for Your Presence with us always, as You still come and stand in the midst of us and come and abide within us! (John 15:4; Matthew 28:20) I can’t wait go and share all I’ve learned and all I’ve experienced on my journey with You -- morning by morning, moment by moment, from glory to glory. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
