Morning by Morning, October 8 - Every Word to Me Fulfilled
Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Lord and Savior, my Soon and Coming King, I look to You and listen for Your leading, as I begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled up with Your Holy Spirit. ...
“Hoping against hope, (Abraham) believed that he would become
the father of many nations,’ according to what was said, So numerous shall your descendants be.’ He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was already as good as dead (for he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, being fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised. Therefore his faith ‘was reckoned to him as righteousness.’ Now the words, ‘it was reckoned to him,’ were written not for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was handed over to death for our trespasses and was raised for our justification” (Romans 4:18-25).
Father, You are faithful to bring to completion the good work You have begun in me (Philippians 1:6). Every Word You’ve ever written by Your Holy Spirit into the Scriptures of the Word of God will come to pass and be fulfilled (Ezekiel 12:28). Every word You’ve ever spoken by Your Holy Spirit into my spirit will come to pass and be fulfilled. For You never fail to watch over Your word to perform it -- all in its time and all in Your way (Jeremiah 1:12).
Abraham trusted in Your word, even when it was hard, even when it didn’t make sense, even when it looked impossible. But he trusted by faith. And “he grew strong in faith as he gave glory to (You).” How did he give glory to You? By continuing to trust in faith, “fully convinced that (You) were able to do what (You) had promised.” That’s the kind of faith that was “reckoned to him as righteousness” and “not for his sake alone, but for ours also.”
Help me grow strong in faith, Lord. “The righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith” as I trust in You and the Good News of Your plan for my life; for “as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith’” (Romans 1:17).
Holy Spirit, give me grace to live by faith. Help me keep trusting in You, believing every Word You’ve written and every word You’ve spoken. “Blessed is (the one) who believed that what was spoken to (them) by the Lord would be fulfilled” (Luke 1:45). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
