Morning by Morning, June 20 - Breaking the Seals and Healing Our Hearts
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lord of my life, Lover of my soul, I entrust my heart and my day into Your hands -- hands scarred by the nails that paid the price for my sins to restore me to right relationship with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“Then I saw in the right hand of the One seated on the throne a scroll written on the inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals, and I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?’ And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. And I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that He can open the scroll and its seven seals” (Revelation 5:1-5).
Last night we were at a Father’s Day gathering with friends for dinner and were worshipping together afterwards. A new friend was there playing her flute by the Spirit and singing out a prophetic song from Your heart in that moment over all of us. During the worship, I began to pray out from a picture You were showing me from this Scripture from Revelation.
I saw the scroll, rolled up with its seven seals, like red wax on parchment paper. The scrolled was expanding and each seal was breaking, one by one. Though I know there is much prophetic significance to the Scripture, I believe You were showing us something You were doing in us in that moment and continuing to do in us moment by moment.
The scroll represented our hearts. And the seals were like wounds upon our hearts. You were filling our hearts with Your love, a love that endures and overcomes and conquers all. A love that heals wounds, that breaks chains, that forgives offenses, that cancels lies, that declares truth, that moves in the power and mercy and grace of the One who is Love (1 John 4:8).
As Your love filled our hearts, as we lifted up our hearts to You in worship and praise, in spirit and truth, You were breaking the seals of the wounds of our hearts. I was praying out what Your Holy Spirit was showing me for us, as You broke the seals and were healing the wounds of doubt and unbelief, disappointment and discouragement, rejection and offense, regret and shame, worry and fear, rebellion and pride, insecurity and inadequacy.
Someone else prayed out that You were healing deep wounds, some that were known and others that looked like only “surface wounds” but were festering and rancid down deep inside. And someone else declared the power of Your love that “never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8).
As the seals were broken, our hearts were opened -- opened wide to worship You and opened wide for You to reveal and proclaim what You have written on the scrolls of our hearts, with our identity and our destiny, sealed in Your “book of life” (Revelation 3:5).
Yes, Lord. You are worthy to hold our hearts and heal our wounds, as You open the scroll. With all the angels and saints of old gathered around Your throne, I join in the worship of their song:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to break its seals,
for You were slaughtered and by Your blood You ransomed for God
saints from every tribe and language and people and nation;
You have made them a kingdom and priests serving our God,
and they will reign on earth” (Revelation 5:9-10).
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!” (Revelation 5:12).
“To the One seated on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
