Morning by Morning, May 28 - "Come and See"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me start this day and every day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...

"Philip found Nathanael and said to him, 'We have found Him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.' Nathanael said to him, 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth?' Philip said to him, 'Come and see' " (John 1:45-46).

Like Nathanael, Your Holy Spirit invites me every day to come and see what God will do. And every day I'm excited to see what good will come out of all You touch, as You bring beauty from ashes, joy from mourning, and praise for heaviness (Isaiah 61:3). I'm excited to come and see how You'll cause all things to work together for good for those who love You and who are called by Your name (Romans 8:28).

Thank You for inviting me on this great adventure with You every day. "Come and see what God has done:  He is awesome in His deeds among mortals" (Psalm 66:5). I can't wait to come and see what You'll do today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray you'll be excited to come and see what awesome things our God is doing in your life each day. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Friends, thank you for all the prayers. I'm feeling much better today, after a good day of rest yesterday. Thanks for joining with me in the journey of prayer!

Morning by Morning, May 27 - Consumed with Fiery Zeal

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Consume me in the fire of Your Spirit. Possess me in the power of Your love.  ...

"Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his ancestor David; he did not turn aside to the right or to the left. For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still a boy, he began to seek the God of his ancestor David, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the sacred poles, and the carved and the cast images. In his presence they pulled down the altars of the Baals; he demolished the incense altars that stood above them. He broke down the sacred polies and the carved and the cast images; he made dust of them and scattered it over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them. He also burned the bones of the priests on their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem. In the towns ... as far as Naphtali, their ruins all around, he broke down the altars, beat the sacred poles and the images into powder, and demolished all the incense altars throughout all the land of Israel. Then he returned to Jerusalem" (2 Chronicles 34:1-7).

Josiah was passionate about the things of God. His very name in Hebrews means the Fire of the Lord. He was not intimidated by the culture and compromise around him. He was filled with a heart for God. And as a forerunner of the coming Messiah, zeal for the house and heart of God consumed him (Psalm 69:9, fulfilled in John 2:17).

Lord, let zeal for Your house and Your heart consume me. Let the fire of the Lord burn in my spirit. Keep me free from the false fervency and fake intimacy of legalism and self-righteousness, but awaken within me a true zeal for You and what really matters -- the matters of the heart. Set my heart ablaze with a true passion and uncompromising faith. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may you be consumed with a fiery zeal for the Lord. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Friends, I would appreciate your prayers. Since returning home from Africa last week, my stomach has not been quite right. I'm going to get it checked out and I thank God for every way He chooses to heal and set things right in our lives. I pray His peace and healing for you. Thanks for joining with me in the journey of prayer!

Morning by Morning, May 23 - As He is, So are We to Be

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart. Change me from the inside out to be more like You each day.  ...

"Love has been perfected among us in this:  that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world" (1 John 4:17).

Lord Jesus, let the truth of this word sink deeply into my soul. As You are, so are we to be in this world. Help me embrace this word on the most personal and intimate level:  As You are, so am I to be in this world.

Give me eyes to see what it would look like to be like Jesus as I go through the moments of my day. When I'm confronted with the challenges of my circumstances, the needs of people, the questions of injustice, the spiritual forces of wickedness, the self-righteousness of the arrogant or the rudeness of the indifferent, show me Your heart, give my Your words, and let my actions be in alignment with Your nature.

I could never even begin to do this in my power or my nature. Apart from You, I can do nothing (John 15:5). So my part is to willingly choose to be desperately dependent upon You alone, with true humility of heart and trusting faith, abiding in You as You abide in me (John 15:4). "Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6). "For in (You) we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray the Holy Spirit will fill you with the Father's heart and the mind of Christ today, that you would be empowered by God to be like Jesus throughout the moments of your day. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 22 - Seek to Love like God

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Make me more like You today.  ...

"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God's love was revealed among us in this way:  God sent His only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another God lives in us, and His love is perfected in us" (1 John 4:7-12).

Son of God, Lord Jesus Christ, let me live through You today. Let Your love live in me today. Let power of the love of God, perfectly revealed in Jesus Christ, move mightily through my words and actions, through my thoughts and desires, through the steps I take and the decisions I make today.

"So (I) have known and believe the love that God has for (me). God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them" (v. 4:16). Come, Lord Jesus, abide in me today.

"By this (I) know that (I) abide in Him and He in (me), because He has give (me) of His Spirit" (v. 4:13). Come, Holy Spirit, Spirit of Christ in me, abide in me today. Let the love of God flow through me today, as You make me more like You. As best as I can and all by Your grace, let me seek to love like God today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may the Holy Spirit abide in you as the love of God flow though you powerfully today. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 21 - "The Least of These"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here I am, Lord. Send me today, wherever You will.  ...

As I watch and wait for the leading of Your Spirit to begin my day embraced in Your Presence, I hear a the words of new song rising up in my spirit. I hear Your voice inviting me to come into a deeper place in Your heart. ...

Will you reach out to the least of these?
Will you come out to the least of these?
They are My children, my little ones
They are My lost and abandoned ones
So won't you reach out, won't you come out
To love and to care for the least of these?

Will you reach out to the least of these?
Will you come out to the least of these?
They are My hurting and broken ones
Bound and addicted, My suffering ones
So won't you reach out, won't you come out
To love and to care for the least of these?

Will you reach out to the least of these?
Will you come out to the least of these?
Wounded and abused, My empty ones
Angry and afraid, My hopeless ones
So won't you reach out, won't you come out
To love and to care for the least of these?

Yes, Lord. Bring me into a deeper place in Your heart. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart. Cause the things that break Your heart to break my heart and the things that bring You joy to bring me joy. And especially open my eyes to see and my heart to embrace the least of these whenever You choose to bring them into my life or bring me into theirs.

"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when was it that we saw You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink? And when was it that we saw You a stranger and welcomed You, or naked and gave You clothing? And when was it that we saw You sick or in prison and visited You?' And the King will answer them, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of My family, you did it to Me' " (Matthew 25:37-40).

Lord, give me Your heart to live my life in Your way, as best as I can and all by Your grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Friends,  I pray the Holy Spirit will continue to fill your heart with the heart of Jesus to be the about our Father's business of reaching out and going out to the least of these. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 20 - Returning with Joy!

Good morning, Lord Jesus. At the sound of Your name, let every knee bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father. I bow down and confess out loud Your Lordship over my life today.  ...

"After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of Him in pairs to every town and place where He Himself intended to go. He said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.... The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, in Your name even the demons submit to us! ... At that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, 'Thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will!" (Luke 10:1-21)

Thank You, Jesus! You sent us to Your harvest in Uganda, proclaiming the coming of the Kingdom of God and the Good News of the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. And we saw You demonstrate the power of God through the words and prayers and love in action You gave us to give away to the people of that land. And after just a week that seemed like a life-time, we've returned with joy, shouting Your praises and telling the stories of Your wondrous grace to them and to us.

We are praising You, God, for an incredible time of ministry in the African cities, villages, and countryside where You sent us in Uganda -- Teaching on Healing Prayer Ministry at the Pastors and Leaders Conference with 560 pastors and leaders from all over the area around Mubende, Uganda; giving out Bibles to the pastors and evangelists in their own language, evangelistic ministry in the markets with many salvations and a dramatic deliverance seeing a tormented woman set free and embrace Jesus, with the gathering crowd seeing the power of the love of God in the mighty name of Jesus; ministry in the villages and countryside with salvations, ministry at orphanages and boarding schools with salvations; 28 students getting saved at the High School; getting to preach and pray on the radio broadcasting across the nation of Uganda one morning; preaching at two churches Sunday morning, with testimonies of healing and encouragement after the prayers. Even on the flight home, one of our team prayed inner healing all night for a pastoral counselor from Holland who wants us to bring out team there next.

Your harvest is ripe! O Lord, send us as Your laborers in Your vineyard declaring the word of the Lord!

And that we return home, help us hold on to these things and ponder them in our hearts. We are forever changed. Now help us not simply return to life as usual, but also help us re-enter life as usual without letting go of all You've done in each one of us. Let us be ready at any moment to say, "Here I am, Lord; send me" -- whether it's to the nations or across the street. Whenever we do, we'll always return with joy! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray you would go out in the power of God's love and Spirit wherever He sends you into His harvest, knowing you will return with great joy in your heart! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 8 - Wait for Power to be His Witness

Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of kings and Lord of lords, be King and Lord of my life today.  ...

"After His suffering He presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While staying with them, He ordered them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. 'This,' He said, 'is what you have heard from Me; for John baptized with water but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be My witnesses ... to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:3-8).

Lord Jesus, thank You for sending me to the ends of the earth. Since You called me out of my career as a lawyer and into Your ministry of healing, I've been thrilled to be Your witness of Your power and love in so many nations of the earth. Now I'm so excited to be carrying Your message of hope and healing to the people of Uganda in a couple of days. And I'm excited to hear their stories of Your power and love already in their midst.

But I don't want to go anywhere -- not to Uganda, not across the street in San Antonio -- until I've waited on You and the promise of my Father to be "clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:49). Fill me up to overflowing with Your Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). Baptize me afresh in Your Holy Spirit and Your holy Fire (Matthew 3:11). Set me ablaze with a passion for You and for Your people who need to know the power and love of our mighty God.

Like Paul's witness everywhere You sent him, let "my speech and my proclamation (be) not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that (our) faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God (1 Corinthians 2:4-5). "For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power" (v. 1:17). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray you would be baptized afresh in the Holy Spirit and God's holy Fire, clothed with power from on high, to be a witness of Jesus wherever He sends you. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 7 - Focus on Following Jesus

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Make me more like You today.  ...

"Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them.... When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, 'Lord, what about him?' Jesus said to him, 'If it is My will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow Me!' " (John 21:20-22)

You loved Peter and You loved John, just as You love every soul created in the image of God. Both would follow You, both would live the rest of their lives for You. According to the legends of their lives, Peter would die hanging upside-down on a cross and John would be exiled on an island alone, but both would hold fast to their faith to the end. Peter would share his with the first Gentiles who would receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:44). And John would share his with the generations to come through writing of his encounter with You reveling the end times of the earth (Revelation 1:1).

Both Peter and John would love You and follow You in their own way by the leading of Your same Spirit. And You made it clear from the beginning that one was not to compare himself with the other. Each was to focus on following You.

Lord, free me to focus on following You. Free me from comparing myself to any of Your other disciples. Free me from jealousies, insecurities, and pride. Free me to be who You created me to be and to follow You wherever You are leading me. Give me a heart that celebrates all You're doing through Your other disciples, a heart that's inspired and encouraged by the journeys of others, but also a heart that is passionate to find my own path and content to follow You in the unique way You've called me.

Let me live out no one's destiny but my own. And when it's all been said and done, let me hear Your voice speaking to my spirit, "Well done, My good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21). As Your Word says, "Pay careful attention to your own work for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct" (Galatians 6:4-5, NLT). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  I pray the Holy Spirit would lift your eyes fill your heart to follow Jesus in the unique way He has called you alone. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 5 - Hear Him Call Your Name

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek Your face and listen for Your voice....

"When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these? ... Feed My lambs.... Tend My sheep.... Follow Me' " (John 21:15-19).

To follow You and fulfill our destiny is an expression of love for You. And You have a holy jealousy for our love. You want us to love You more than anything else. Just as You love us more than anything else. "There is no greater love" (v. 15:13).

I can hear You call my name
Calling me to follow You
I want to know my call in You
To follow You where You lead

Let me have Your heart in me
In Your heart I am complete
Let me fulfill Your heart's desire
I'm in You and You're in me

Jesus, You call my name
Jesus, I seek Your face
Jesus, You live in me
Jesus, I live in You

Thank You, Lord. Empower me to live into the words You've written on my heart today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may you hear the Lord call your name and invite you to follow Him to fulfill your destiny as a child of God. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, May 2 - Redeemed and Restored

Good morning, Lord Jesus. All that I have and all that I am, I entrust to You today.  ...

"Simon Peter said to them, 'I am going fishing.'... They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the beach; but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, 'Children, you have no fish, have you?' Then answered Him, 'No.' He said to them, 'Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you fill find some... When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on some clothes, for he was naked, and jumped into the sea" (John 21:3-7).

In the face of persecution and out fear of crucifixion, Peter denied you after vowing he never would. Naked and ashamed, stripped of his pride and still hurting inside, he went back to fishing. Though he had now seen the risen Christ, along with Thomas and the other disciples, I'm sure he still wrestled with forgiving himself for failing You. And in the dark night of his soul, he caught nothing.

But "just after daybreak," he heard Your voice again. Like the dawn of a new day, Your voice broke into the darkness of his soul. He remembered You voice and remembered his past when he'd heard You call him to cast his nets on the other side of the boat before. He knew it was You. And though he had failed You, You had never forgotten him. So he jumped into sea and swam out of his self-pity to the shores of Your grace. And there by the warm fire of Your tender mercies and unfailing love, You restored his identity and released him into his destiny (v. 15-19).

Thank You, Jesus, for every time You've never given up on me. Thank You for the dawning of every new day, when You remind me of Your faithfulness in the past and encourage me with Your faithfulness forever. Your love never fails and Your mercies are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. Great is Your love. Great is Your power to redeem and restore, to confirm my identity as a child of God and release me into my destiny as disciple of Christ. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may you experience the dawn of a new day, remembering the faithfulness of Jesus whenever you may struggle with failure or lack of faith. May you hear the voice of Jesus calling you to the shore of His grace and the mercies of His embrace, redeemed and restored. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Friends, I'll be representing Rapha God Ministries this weekend to share some of our insights on ministry of brokenness from trauma at the Advanced Training Inner Healing Ministry Conference, featuring speakers Andy Reese and Candyce Roberts. Morning by Morning, May 1 - "Clothed with Power from on High"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit -- Lord God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, yet Lover of my soul -- I worship You and welcome every dimension of Your Being into every dimension of my being.  ...

After Your resurrection, in an expression of the Trinity, three Persons of one God, You spoke to Your first disciples as Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior, calling them to wait for the promise of their heavenly Father, which was the outpouring of the power and presence of Your Holy Spirit into their hearts:  "Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, 'Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And see, I am sending upon you what My Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:45-49).

"While staying with them, He ordered them no to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. 'This,' He said, 'is what you have heard from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit no many days from now" (Acts 1:4-5).

Lord Jesus, baptize me with Your Holy Spirit. Saturate me, immerse me, fill me to overflowing with Your abiding Presence and power of Your love. Just as John the Baptist prophesied of You as he fulfilled his forerunner calling as a voice of one crying in the wilderness, preparing the way of the Lord, "I baptize you with water for repentance, but One who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to carry His sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire" (Matthew 3:11).

Come, Holy Spirit. Thank You, heavenly Father. Clothe me with power from on high. May "the Spirit of Christ," the Holy Spirit of the Living God fill me and consume me with a fiery passion, set ablaze with the power of the love of God to be a witness of Jesus Christ in my world today (Romans 8:9-11). My Friend,  may you be clothed with power from on High today, baptized afresh in the Holy Spirit of the Living God, embraced by your Father's love, and sent forth as a passionate witness of Jesus Christ. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Friends, I'm excited that tonight we will celebrate the graduation of another class of about 60 students from our Level 2 School of Ministry from Rapha God Ministries. By the grace of God, we're seeing to do our part to help equip the army of the Lord in the prayer ministry of healing and deliverance. And I'm exciting to be going with a team to do the same in Uganda in a couple of weeks. Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement!

Morning by Morning, April 30 - Burning Heart

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Open up Your heavens and let Your glory come down. Open up my heart and let the King of Glory come in.  ...

"They said to each other, 'Were not our hearts burning with us while He was talking to us on the road, while He was opening the Scriptures to us?' " (Luke 24:32)

Lord, let my love for Your Presence and passion for Your Word never grow cold and never burn out. Stoke the coals of my spirit and fan them into flame every day of my spiritual journey with You. I know if I keep close to You and Your Word, my love will never grow cold and my flame will never burn out (Matthew 24:12).

You are "a consuming Fire" (Hebrews 12:29). And I want to be consumed by the Fire of Your Spirit burning in my heart every day. Let the zeal of the Lord consume me (John 2:17). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may the zeal of the Lord consume you, may your heart burn within you with a passion for Jesus and the Word of God. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
