Our God is a Singing Warrior! - April 25, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, April 25 - Our God is a Singing Warrior!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, and Your words in my mouth, as I watch and wait for Your leading, my Lord -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...   As I listen, I sense Your Spirit singing over me and stirring up my spirit within me singing back to You.   “The Lord, your God, is in your midst,     a Warrior who gives victory; He will rejoice over you with gladness,     He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with loud singing!” (Zephaniah 3:17)   Among all that You are, You are a Singing Warrior! You sing songs of victory, songs of deliverance, songs of the fullness our salvation and the depths of our inheritance as sons and daughters of our God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   And as You sing over us, our spirit begins to sing with Your Spirit. You bring us into tune with Your Spirit and into alignment with Your Heart. The deep within us, the depths of our innermost being hears Your Voice and begins to sing Your Song.   As we sing, You lift us up out of sadness and into Your gladness, out of despair and into Your hope, out of our doubts and into Your faith. You renew us in Your love and fill us with Your Spirit to arise and shine, to rejoice and sing.   You are our Singing Warrior who gives victory to overcome all that we’ll encounter each day. You take our emptiness and pour into us Your fullness. You take our regrets and give us expectant faith of what is yet to come. You take all our self-imposed limits and You release to us Your limitless power and love to live in us and through us, as You sing over us and cause a new song to rise up within us!   “Sing, O barren one who did not bear;     burst into song and shout,     you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate woman will be more     than the children of her that is married, says the Lord. Enlarge the site of your tent,     and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords     and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left,     and your descendants will possess the nations     and will settle the desolate towns!” (Isaiah 54:1-3)   “For the mountains may depart     and the hills be removed, but My steadfast love shall not depart from you,     and My covenant of peace shall not be removed,     says the Lord, who has compassion on you! (Isaiah 54:10)   “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper,     and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord     and their vindication from Me, says the Lord!” (Isaiah 54:17).   O Mighty Warrior, O Singing Warrior, You’ve defeated every weapon, You’ve silenced every tongue against me, as You vindicate me by Your victory, as sing over me in Your love, and as You establish me in Your peace. This is my heritage as a servant of the Lord, as a child of God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Our Passover Lamb and Resurrected Lord - April 15, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, April 15 - Our Passover Lamb and Resurrected Lord   Good morning, Lord Jesus. On this Good Friday, on this first day of Passover, on this year when these two days align, I look to You, Lord Jesus, our Passover Lamb and our Resurrected Lord. ...   “The next day (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, ‘Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who ranks ahead of me because He was before me.’ I myself did not know Him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that He might be revealed to Israel.’ And John testified, ‘I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on Him. I myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.’ The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, ‘Look, here is the Lamb of God!’” (John 1:29-36)   Lamb of God, Resurrected Lord, You humbled Yourself from heaven to enter into our world -- conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, to be crucified, dead, and buried, and to be raised from the dead on the third day. All for us. That all of us could be forgiven and free -- free to now live our lives all for You.   On the first Passover, You called the Jewish people who were enslaved in Egypt to slaughter a lamb “without blemish” and apply the blood of the lamb to the doorposts and lintel of their houses, that the Angel of the Lord would pass over their home and their firstborn would not die during the judgment of the Lord against Pharaoh and the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:1-28).   You declared through Your servant Moses that this day of deliverance was to be remembered and celebrated forever:   “It is the Passover of the Lord. For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals; on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. This day shall be a day of remembrance for you. You shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall observe it as a perpetual ordinance” (Exodus 12:11-14).   That first Passover was as sign and symbol of our ultimate Passover, when You offered Yourself on the Cross as the Lamb without blemish, pouring out Your Blood for our sins that death would pass over our lives. Through Your Sacrifice of Love, You’ve delivered us out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light, out of the grip of death and into the embrace of life.   As You declared: “I Am the Resurrection and the Life. Those who believe in Me, even though they die, will live” (John 11:25).   You are the Lamb of God who has taken away the sin of the world. You are our Passover Lamb. You are our Resurrected Lord.   “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).   You died for us, that we might live for You. We were “bought with a price” -- by the Blood of Christ -- so that “(we) are not (our) own” any longer (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).   By Your Sacrifice, we are forgiven and free, freely living for You by Your Spirit within us, declaring by faith and living by grace this truth according to Your will:    “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 NKJV).   Come live in me today and every day, by Your Resurrection Power, my Resurrected Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! The Cross of Jesus: Calculated Evil, but Predestined for Good - April 14, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, April 14 - The Cross of Jesus: Calculated Evil, but Predestined for Good   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Looking to You, I listen for Your leading to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. ...   “When Jesus had finished saying all these things, He said to His disciples, ‘You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.’   “Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and they conspired to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill Him. But they said, ‘Not during the festival, or there may be a riot among the people’” (Matthew 26:1-5).   The religious leaders--jealous, afraid, and intimidated by Your presence and power among the people--conspired to arrest You and kill You. Moved by a spirit directing their thoughts and passions and decisions, they planned out their timing in calculated evil. But they didn’t know their calculated evil was also predestined for good--for the greatest good and most powerful event of human history in Your crucifixion and resurrection.   “None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8).   Though their choices were real and their decisions were evil, You’ve always know every choice that would ever be made and every evil decision that would ever be acted out. In the power of Your sovereignty and the wisdom of heaven, You would turn their evil into Your good, like You always do (Genesis 50:20). You would redeem their actions and cause all things--even evil things--to “work together for good for those who love (You), who are called according to (Your) purpose” (Romans 8:28).   They thought they caused You to be put to death on a cross, but You had already tried to tell them of the sovereign plans of God through Your life and death and resurrection. You said You came to willingly lay down Your life for us (John 10:15), that we could be forgiven and free through Your Sacrifice of Love for all who would put their faith in You (John 3:16). You told them:   “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I have received this command from My Father” (John 10:17-18).   By Your own accord, You turned their calculated evil into Your predestined good. And in the fulfillment of time and the sovereignty of Your will, Your good will always overcome evil (Romans 12:21). Your plans for our good will always overcome the world’s plans for evil (John 16:33). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Don’t Fear the Fire, for The Lord is With You - April 13, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, April 13 - Don’t Fear the Fire, for The Lord is With You   Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Rock and Refuge, Healer and Deliverer, Strong Tower and Merciful Savior, I call on Your name and trust in Your grace to begin my day in communion with You. ...   As I turn to You, my thoughts also turn to my mom, along with my stepfather, brother and dear friends who live in the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico, where a raging fire is burning out of control up the canyon less than two miles from where they live. ...   Lord, stretch out Your hand of protection over them and send forth Your Spirit to guide them in what to do and where to go, with their hope and trust in You.   As decisions are made and actions are taken on the ground in that place, I can take my place in the Spirit in prayer to pray the promises of God from the Word of God over them all. As I seek Your guidance in how to pray, this Word from Isaiah 43 comes to mind. As You spoke it to give hope to Your people in Israel for the challenges of their day, I pray it to give peace to Your people in Ruidoso today:   “But now thus says the Lord,     He who created you, O Jacob,     He who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;     I have called you by name, you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;     and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,     and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God,     the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom,     Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in My sight,     and honored, and I love you, I give people in return for you,     nations in exchange for your life. Do not fear, for I am with you;     I will bring your offspring from the east,     and from the west I will gather you; I will say to the north, ‘Give them up,’     and to the south, ‘Do not withhold; bring My sons from far away     and My daughters from the end of the earth-- everyone who is called by My name,     whom I created for My glory,     whom I formed and made” (Isaiah 43:1-7).   That’s the Word on which I stand today--standing in my spirit in faith, bowing on my knees in prayer. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
